Chip antennas
Johanson Technology (Camarillo,
California) is enabling multi-band wireless
solutions to fully comply with AEC
qualification standards. Johanson's extended
WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 IPC portfolio
reportedly adds a Triple-Band AEC
Q-200 qualified WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 chip
antenna device. The company states that
in compliance with IEEE 802.11 ax and
AEC standards, the miniature EIA 1206
(3216 Metric) SMD chip antenna operates
at three bands: 2.4 through 2.5
Gigahertz, 4.9 through 5.85 Gigahertz
and 5.85 through 7.2 Gigahertz. It also
offers a single feed point with radiation
efficiencies reaching 85% and a corner
PCB mount design.

Infrared sensing
TriEye (Tel Aviv, Israel) announced its
proprietary SEDAR platform. The company's
SEDAR (Spectrum Enhanced
Detection and Ranging) platform leverages
short-wave infrared (SWIR) to
offer 2D imaging and 3D determinative
depth sensing at a claimed lower cost
than other sensor systems such as lidar.
The system reportedly is built on
the company's CMOS (Complementary
Metal Oxide Semiconductor)-based HD
SWIR sensor and delivers an automotive-grade,
off-the-shelf solution to
enhance safety and operating performance
in ADAS and autonomous-vehicle
applications. The system can be

Renesas Electronics (Tokyo, Japan) announced
its new automotive Intelligent
Power Device (IPD) that is claimed to
safely and flexibly control power distribution
within vehicles, addressing the
requirements of next-generation E/E
(electrical/electronic) architectures. The
new RAJ2810024H12HPD is available in
the TO-252-7 package and reportedly
reduces the
mounting area
by approximately
40%
compared to
the conventional
TO-263
version. The
unit also features
advanced current detection function
of abnormal currents such as overcurrent.
The company claims that because
the new IPD detects abnormal
currents even at low loads, it allows engineers
to design highly safe and precise
power control systems that can detect
even the smallest abnormalities.

Microcontrollers
NXP (Eindhoven, Netherlands) announced
a new S32K39 series of automotive
microcontrollers (MCUs) optimized
for EV control applications. The
S32K39 includes networking, security
and functional-safety capabilities beyond
traditional automotive MCUs to
address the needs of zonal vehicle E/E
architectures and software-defined vehicles.
The new MCUs enable NXP's battery
management system (BMS) and EV
power inverters to provide end-to-end
solutions for next-generation EVs. The
S32K39 is optimized for the intelligent
and high-precision control of traction
inverters that convert the EV battery's

DC power into alternating current to
drive modern traction motors. The
MCUs support traditional insulated-gate
bipolar transistors (IGBT), as well as
newer silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium
nitride (GaN) technologies.

Connectors
Amphenol Industrial Operations
(Endicott, New York) has expanded its
ePower-Lite line to include a 3-pole
connector. The ePower-Lite 5.7 mm
(0.22 inches) features a quick lock and
press-to-release design, and is used to
connect PTC/AC to DC and related control
boxes, including power distribution
units (PDU). The connector is reportedly
suited for use in electric vehicles,
hybrid or pure EV heavy equipment, as
well as fuel-cell electric vehicles.
Amphenol claims the compact, lightweight
plastic shell provides a small
footprint and is designed to meet the
needs of high-voltage applications up
to 850VDC, such as those found in
compressors and compressor controllers.
The ePower-Lite 5.7 mm is rated up
to 120 A of continuous current.
