Hydraulic pressure unit
KTI Hydraulics (Santa Ana, California)
announced its submerged DC hydraulic
pressure unit (HPU). The company
states that this design increases the
reliability of the HPU by submerging the
motor and gear pump in the reservoir
fluid, rather than mounting the motor/
gear pump and manifold to the top of
the reservoir. KTI also states that this
configuration requires substantially less
maintenance and longer service life.
The new units reportedly are suited for
machinery that operates in harsh, corrosive
environments. The oil also functions
as coolant, which helps extend the
duty cycle. The unit is offered with a
1.8-kW 12V and 24V DC motor and includes
a pressure-loaded gear pump,
potted solenoid and a reservoir with
five quarts of usable volume.

Multiplate system
Danfoss (Nordborg, Denmark)
launched its new multiplate system in
North America. The configurable coupling
system reportedly enables users
to simultaneously connect and disconnect
up to six hydraulic lines fitted
with Danfoss flat face quick-disconnect
couplings with a single movement.
Danfoss also claims that the system's
internal mechanism can withstand
heavy duty cycles while lowering the
force required to connect by 40% compared
to similar systems. When configured
to connect under pressure, the
multiplate system supports easy manual
connection up to 350 bar (5,076
psi). The system also features an ergonomic
handle for operator comfort and
clear start and end positions.

Filtration media
Donaldson Company
(Minneapolis,
Minnesota) announced
a new product for hydraulic
filtration media.
The company's
Alpha-Web hydraulic
filtration media reportedly
features a
fine-fiber layer to trap
and lock particles during
frequent flow-rate
changes. According to
Donaldson, this delivers a substantial
improvement in hydraulic fluid cleanliness
as well as better equipment protection.
Donaldson states that AlphaWeb
has been shown to improve hydraulic
fluid cleanliness levels by two
ISO codes over synthetic media, resulting
in up to four times cleaner hydraulic
fluid and extending component life
up to 60%.

Synthetic lubrication
Petro-Canada Lubricants (Mississauga,
Ontario) launched PRODURO TO-4+
UHP, a multi-purpose synthetic all-season
transmission, hydraulic, driveline
and wet brake fluid for heavy-duty mobile
equipment that increases equipment
productivity and decreases operating
costs. The fluid reportedly was
developed to improve the performance
of mining and construction equipment
operating in extreme conditions as well

as maximize
durability and
equipment
protection at
elevated system
temperatures
and in
severe operating
conditions.
The
company
claims that
the new fluid can deliver up to a 6%
equipment life increase for applicable
mining and construction equipment
and offers improvements in high temperature
high shear as well as extended
oil drain intervals.

Controllers and solenoids
Husco (Waukesha, Wisconsin) announced
a new controller family as well
as a new line of high-pressure solenoids.
The new controller series features
an expanded range of low, medium
and high I/O controllers and accompanying
advanced hydraulic control
software. Husco's new line of high-pressure
solenoids reportedly combines
design elements of its off-highway lineup
with the company's automotive series.
Both of these products pair with
the company's new E-Steer and EHSteer
hardware as well as its flexible MX
and SBX platforms, demonstrating how
the systems can develop complete, energy-optimized
hydraulic systems.
