portfolio of
high-performance
hydraulic
remote
controls
designed to withstand extreme and harsh environments.
The Danfoss DHRC line reportedly increases machine
productivity through superior controllability and
operator comfort. The range includes the DHRCJ joystick,
DHRCP foot pedal and DHRCD sectional valve. The controls
are suited for excavators, skid steer loaders, backhoe
loaders, wheel loaders, forklifts, truck cranes, aerial
work platforms, telehandlers and drilling machinery.
Flexible, customizable designs enable OEMs to tailor the
controls to the application. DHRCJ joystick options include
seven switch boxes, four grips, four boots and four
bodies. The DHRCP pedal is available in seven styles, including
single and double pedals, with five bellows and
seven body options.

On-road engines
Volvo Trucks (Greensboro, North
Carolina) announced the availability
of an engine that meets California Air
Resources Board (CARB) 2024
Omnibus regulation requirements for
low NOx and PM emissions standards.
The CARB 24-compliant engine
features an advanced emission
control system integrated with a fully
serviceable linear exhaust aftertreatment system. Each component,
including the diesel oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate
filter, aftertreatment heater and selective catalytic reduction, is
reportedly designed for individual servicing or replacement.
Additionally, a 48-volt alternator has been incorporated onto the
engine to supply power to a 48-volt battery that powers the heater
during startup and low-load situations. The CARB 24-compliant
engine is available for order in the VNR and current VNL models
with ratings of 455 hp (339 kW) and 1650 lb-ft (2237 Nm).

48-V electric linear actuator
Thomson Industries (Downers Grove, Illinois) announced that
its Electrak MD actuator now has a 48-V rating. The availability
of a 48-V actuator that can handle loads of up to 2 kN
(450 lb) equips battery powered system designers with energy
efficiency, cable management and control capability
that might otherwise require larger, more expensive actuators.
Thomson states that by achieving comparable load handling
with a dramatically lower current draw, designers realize
benefits such as improved energy efficiency, reduced cabling
costs, longer distance deployment, reduced voltage drop-off
and higher controllability through more efficient integration
and smart features such as position feedback. The Electrak
MD 48-V actuator also enables advanced motion control
wherever 48-V batteries are in use. This is valuable in logistics
and material handling applications such as forklifts and AGVs.

Wheel motor seals
Freudenberg Sealing
Technologies (Weinheim,
Germany) has developed a
pair of seal designs specfically
for in-wheel motors.
The cassette seal reportedly
offers a double sealing lip
and mating contact surface installed in a closed system, featuring
precisely matched materials made of stainless steel and special
rubber compounds. The required speed ranges and contamination
protection can be scaled. The cassette seal also offers a
long service life and high functional reliability. It is capable of
achieving up to 500,000 km and protection class IP67. This
makes it a maintenance-free, self-lubricating solution throughout
its entire service life. The second design, a V-seal, works in an
open system and features wear-resistant elastomers with excellent
sliding properties. According to Freudenberg, this seal creates
a plug-and-play solution designed for flexible applications.
