NIR Quadrant PIN
First Sensor AG (Berlin, Germany), part of TE, has developed
a large area NIR quadrant PIN which could play
a pivotal role in defense technologies. The QP154 detector
is a quadrant PIN photodiode with a large 14 mm active
area for semi-active controllers in a 100% hermetically
sealed and electrically isolated transistor outline TO package. The Si detector
is optimised for the NIR and specifically 1 µm wavelengths, commonly
used in defense applications in the laser seeker/detector head on missiles.
The circular face of the QP chip is equally divided into four quadrants, and
acts as the " eye " in the detector head, ensuring that the missile can " see "
the targeting laser and hit the target with a high degree of accuracy.

Electronic Warfare Surge Protection Devices
HUBER+SUHNER (Herisau, Switzerland) has expanded
its portfolio of surge protection devices
(SPD) to address the growing sophistication of electronic
warfare (EW) attacks. The new 3404.00.0011
and .0012 SPDs feature a robust stainless-steel housing
with an integrated coaxial gas discharge tube
(GDT) and feed-through design to ensure reliable protection of critical
radio equipment, including manpack and vehicle-mounted radios, against
threats such as surge, ESD and NSL. These broadband SPDs cover the majority
of frequency bands for software-defined radios (SDR) to ensure clear
and reliable communication, while the waterproof N - MMCX or TNC -
MMCX interface make them suitable for use in harsh environments (IP68).

Field Test Bench
HGH Infrared Systems' (Igny, France) new
OPAL is a multispectral portable bench dedicated
to the test and maintenance of military electrooptic
(EO) devices such as night vision goggles,
visible to IR cameras and lasers. OPAL is based on a compact collimator for
field application and includes infrared and visible reference sources such
as a blackbody and an integrating sphere, as well as specific targets and filters.
OPAL is capable of testing: thermal & SWIR imagers (1-2.5µm/
3-5µm/ 8-14µm); night vision goggles; TV cameras or day goggles; laser
rangefinders and illuminators; multispectral portable devices; and
weapon sights equipped with thermal, intensifier tubes and LRF modules.

Cov
Millimeter-Wave Signal Analyzer
Keysight Technologies, Inc. (Santa Rosa, CA)
announced the Keysight N9042B UXA X-Series
signal analyzer, which enables customers to
test the performance of millimeter-wave
(mmWave) innovations in 5G, aerospace & defense,
and satellite communications. At
mmWave frequencies, signals are more susceptible to impairments
that affect the signal quality, such as IQ modulation errors, phase
noise, distortion, signal-to-noise ratio, amplitude, and phase linearity.
Keysight's new N9042B UXA X-Series signal analyzer provides wide
analysis bandwidth and deep dynamic range to help customers solve
their most difficult mmWave challenges including tight design margins
and timelines, complex modulation, and stringent standards.

Low Noise Amplifiers
Pasternack (Irvine, CA), an Infinite Electronics
brand, launched a new series of low-noise amplifiers
for use in electronic warfare, ECM, microwave radio,
VSAT, SATCOM, radar, space systems, R&D, prototype/proof
of concept, and test & measurement applications.
Pasternack's new series of input protected
low-noise amplifiers feature Gallium Nitride
(GaN) semiconductor technology that provides robust
input power protection. These input protected amplifiers cover
desirable microwave and mm-wave frequency bands that complement
Pasternack's existing portfolio of input protected LNA's covering
lower RF frequencies. Features and options include broadband frequencies
ranging from 1 to 23 GHz, high gain up to 46 dB typical,
low noise figures as low as 1.5 dB typical and high RF input power
handling up to 10 watts CW.

Network Attached Storage System
Curtiss-Wright's Defense Solutions Division
(Ashburn, VA) has expanded its family of network
attached storage (NAS) devices with the
new HSR10, its first commercial off the shelf
(COTS) 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) NAS solution.
The HSR10 provides dual 10 GbE interfaces
and two layers of encryption to protect up to 32 Terabytes (TB)
of critical data-at-rest (DAR) on deployed air, sea, and ground platforms.
The HSR10's two layers of encryption are provided via a combination
of software full disk encryption (SWFDE) and hardware full
disk encryption (HWFDE). The high-speed HSR10 features a PCI Express
(PCIe) architecture and NVMe memory (8/16/32 TB) that connects
directly to the system processor at flash memory speeds. The
NVMe memory (~50% faster than SATA based memory) is housed in
a rugged Removable Memory Module (RMM) that eases the secure
transfer of data for post-mission analysis.

Ruggedized I/O System
United Electronic Industries (UEI) (Norwood,
MA) released a new rugged, flexible,
and compact UEIPAC BRICK4 I/O system
for applications exposed to extreme
environments. The UEIPAC BRICK4 offers slots for four I/O boards,
and with over 85 unique UEI I/O boards, there is sure to be a configuration
matching your application. Sealed dSUB I/O connectors ensure
pinout compatibility with all of UEI's popular DNx-series I/O
boards. Ethernet connections are made through standard M12 connectors,
ensuring compatibility with industry standard cables. The
DNR-BRICK4 may be powered via standard 4 pair PoE++ (802.3bt)
compatible Ethernet ports. Redundant power sources may be used via
the 25-pin dSub connector, and the primary source is programmable.
For non-POE applications, the chassis requires 9-36 VDC. An optional
AC/DC power supply is available (DNA-PSU-60).
