Detect and Avoid System
Sagetech Avionics (White Salmon, WA) and American
Aerospace ISR (AA ISR) (Conshohocken, PA) have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate
Sagetech's Detect and Avoid (DAA) system into the AA ISR
AiRanger unmanned aircraft. Sagetech's DAA system packages
multiple core technologies into a single, low size, weight, and power (SWaP) DAA solution
suitable for use on commercial unmanned aircraft as well as urban air mobility (UAM) platforms.
Sagetech's DAA system is ACAS-based, featuring technologies including a transponder,
an interrogator, an ACAS-based DAA computer, software package, and other essential components.
The AiRanger™ is an industry-leading fixed-wing unmanned aircraft with an endurance
of over 17 hours (with payload). Powered by a fuel-injected gasoline engine, the
AiRanger is designed for commercialized airborne applications in austere environments at
large scale.

Ultra-SFF Supercomputer
Aitech (Chatsworth, CA) has expanded its GPGPU-based product offerings
with the A179 Lightning, a rugged, fanless AI supercomputer.
With an ultra-compact footprint, roughly the size of a cell phone, the
new SWaP-optimized A179 is powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX
platform based on the Volta GPU, which packs up to 384 CUDA cores
and 48 Tensor cores. In addition to the 21 TOPS (Tera Operations Per
Second, INT8) that the A179 Lightning provides, it offers 1050 GOPS/W
INT8, as well as an H.264/H.265 hardware encoder/decoder. Video capture inputs include SDI
(SD/HD), four FPD-Link™ III (to MIPI CSI) camera inputs and eight composite (NTSC/PAL)
channels. Standard I/O ports, such as Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 & 2.0, DVI/HDMI out, CANbus,
UART Serial and a number for discretes, offer flexible data management.

Plastic mmWave System
CEA-Leti (Grenoble, France) has developed a hybrid, ultra-fast,
ultra-low latency technology that guides mmWave radio signals
through flexible plastic tubing. Called H-Link, the low-cost, energysaving
system ensures Gb/s broadband connectivity that also overcomes
the limits of copper wire and optical fiber, such as oxidation of
metal and brittleness. In addition to being flexible and less sensitive
to vibration and electromagnetism, H-Link's wireless technology can
transfer information over distances up to 10 meters at a speed of 15 Gb/s, with an average data
transmission speed of 6 Gb/s over a little more than two meters. mmWave systems operate in
frequency ranges from 30 to 300 GHz. The plastic-based system, which is much lighter than
copper, uses one-tenth of the energy of copper and less than fiber-optic cable.

CNC Machine
With SINUMERIK ONE, the first digital native CNC, Siemens (Munich,
Germany) is driving forward digital transformation in the machine
tool industry. The new controller works with software to create
the machine controller and the associated digital twin from one engineering
system and thus contributes to the seamless integration of
hardware and software. The CNC system with integrated Simatic S7-1500F PLC is available in
both a control cabinet-based and panel-based version. SINUMERIK ONE fits into the Totally
Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal and makes an efficient engineering framework available
for machine tool builders. With IT security integrated in the CNC by design, SINUMERIK ONE
implements the multi-layer Defense-in-Depth-Concept.

GaN-Based Solid-State Power Amplifier
CTT, Inc. (San Jose, CA) announced a new compact, GaN-based
solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) specifically designed for multifunctional
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Small Satellite (SmallSat) and airborne
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems. CTT's latest compact
SSPA designs offer 630-Watts of pulse power output in a compact
package. Model AGN/099-5860-P operates in the frequency of 9.4
to 9.9 GHz with a pulse power output of 630 Watts; small signal gain is 60 dB, min.; and noise
figure is +10 dB making this an attractive solution where supply power is limited. The amplifier's
compact design measures just 6.17-inches (L) × 6.35-inches (W) × 0.82-inches (H) and
weighs less than 2 pounds. Higher power output is also available.
