■ Computing Node

An Arm-based architecture dedicated to HPEC applications is available from Kontron, Augsburg, Germany.
VX6124, a 6U VPX 200k+ DMIPS processing blade, features 40G/100G Ethernet connectivity for HPEC architectures, including IoT gateways. The VX6124 NXP Layerscape LX2160A processor is coupled with up to
32GB DDR4 memory and XMC slot. The design has been especially designed to best support the main CPU
and optional XMC mezzanine such as Kontron XMC-GPU91 Radeon E9171. It can also be equipped with the
Kontron APPROTECT-Security Chip, which prevents reverse engineering of executable codes, while enabling a strict, hardware-enforced
control over the copies of the program allowed to run on any VX6124.

Product Focus: Laser Machining/Marking
■ Laser System

■ Flux-Cored Wire

ACSYS Lasertechnik, Lenexa, KS, has
released a patent-pending, ultra-short pulse
quick-change laser system for marking, engraving, and cutting for medical device applications. The All-In-One laser system uses a
galvanometer scanner equipped with either f-theta marking optics
or a laser cutting head. When in marking mode, this system can
perform corrosion-free laser marking on stainless-steel devices for
UDI markings on medical devices or instruments. In cutting mode,
the cutting head replaces the galvanometer scanning f-theta lens
without having to remove the galvanometer head itself. This laser
system optimizes the cutting face the cutting joint in a targeted
manner with no burrs and minimal thermal influence.

Indium, Clinton, NY, has released a
uniquely formulated flux-cored wire that
combines superior wetting speed and spread
with extremely low-spatter performance. CW232 is a highly activated rosin flux-cored wire developed to meet the
demanding requirements of robotic and laser soldering applications
by delivering additional wetting power in order to achieve higher
throughput. The wire also works in hand-soldering applications. Due
to its " no-spatter " technology, it eliminates flux spattering that can burn
operators' hands, impair the vision system of the robotic soldering
machines, or make finished products less aesthetically appealing.

■ Engraving Machines
Roland DGA, Irvine, CA, offers laser engraving machines incorporating state-of-theart CO2 laser technology. The VersaUV LEF2
series LV engravers are ideal for permanently
marking a wide variety of parts and instruments, including those composed of aluminum, stainless steel,
Inconel, copper, titanium, and brass. The Class 1-compliant LV
laser engravers are designed to enable companies to reduce costs
and increase quality control by performing part-marking requirements in-house instead of outsourcing.

A burr-free electrochemical cutoff machine from Glebar, Ramsey, NJ, enables multiple tubes to be cut to length at the same
time. The Tridex Technology CS1-E features
a highly precise feed system that can be accurately positioned to
0.00040 in. (0.01 mm). The Tridex ECC machines can cut off and
grind notches in the same operation. In a typical example, using ECC
89, 25 G (0.020 in. diameter) hypotubes are cut per cycle. The cycle
time is 20 seconds or 0.23 seconds per piece. The machine is simple
to set up and operate via intuitive software and controls. The software
collects shop floor data for OEE and process monitoring.

■ Fume Hoods

■ Solid-State Relay

A chemical-resistant, flame-retardant, lightweight
composite resin fume hood is available from
HEMCO, Independence, MO. The non-metallic
fume hood has an interior fume chamber that is
seamless and molded in one piece with coved corners, and a slotted VaraFlow baffle system for airflow
uniformity. It measures 54 in. high with an extended front post to accommodate additional service fixtures and electrical services. Available in 48,
60, 72, and 96 in. models with a 30 in. depth, the hood is equipped with
a vapor proof two-tube T-5 fluorescent light fixture, light switch, and
counterbalanced vertical sliding safety tempered glass sash.

Littelfuse, Chicago, IL, has released an 800 V
normally open single-pole 6-pin solid-state
relay (SSR). The PLA172P OptoMOS® relay
comes with guaranteed electrical parameters at
105 °C ambient operating temperature. The relay
is designed to replace electromechanical relays that
are bulky and prone to failing drop tests. It offers unique
device pinout that provide more than 6.8 mm of pad-to-pad separation
between the high voltage output pins, preventing arcing. Also included is 5000 VRMS input-to-output isolation, and a 5 mA low input control current over operating temperature range.
