■ Tubing Dies

■ Custom Labels

Guill, West Warwick, RI, has introduced 2-6 layer
extrusion tooling designed to produce the highest
quality, highest material-efficient 1⁄8 to 6 in. OD tubing. The redesigned Series 800 produces smooth
extrusion and layer definition of fluropolymer and other materials for
all multi-layer, multi-lumen medical tubing. The design allows thin
layer combinations of polymers and adhesives to 0.02 mm or less. The
tooling is produced with computer simulation of the flow channels
using computational fluid dynamics programs, resulting in optimum
uniform flow with no weld lines.

Empire Screen Printing, Onalaska, WI,
offers a wide range of printing technology
to medical device and equipment manufacturers. Applications include control panels, graphic overlays, decorative
and informative graphics, dead fronts, nameplates, brand identification,
and warning/danger decals. The company develops customized solutions
in close collaboration with customers. Application experts evaluate materials for stability and durability, as well as for compliance with the latest
health and safety standards. The team produces samples for testing and
conducts rigorous evaluations to ensure labels maintain their form and
function under the stresses that medical products encounter in actual use.

■ Servo-Drive System

■ Smart Modules

A new servo drive system in the safety
extra-low voltage range for 24-48V EC
motors is available from Siemens, Plano, TX.
The Simatic Micro-Drive system with UL- and
CE-marked components consists of the PDC
(Profidrive Control) servo drive in conjunction with a flexible range of
motors and connecting cables from product partners. The system
offers units from 100 W to 1 kW and allows side-by-side rail mounting.
It is available in a standard (only hardwired safe torque off [STO]) and
a fail-safe version. STO, SS1, SLT, SLS, and SSM safety integrated functions are included with the Micro-Drive F variant.

A multiprotocol platform from InnoPhase, San
Diego, CA, provides low power wireless connectivity. The Talaria TWO™ INP1012 and INP1013
modules for smart health applications combine
wireless connectivity and integrated microcontroller for edge-of-network IoT devices that require low power consumption and a direct-to-cloud connection. The miniaturized modules
are 40 percent smaller than the original INP1010/INP1011 and add
more intelligence and functionality to their products while meeting the
growing demand for faster time to market and more compact designs.

■ Ball Rail Systems

■ Piston Compressor

Bosch Rexroth, Bethlehem, PA, offers BSHP
ball rail systems and BASA ball screw assemblies that achieve lubrication intervals that are
up to four times longer. BASA achieves up to
200 million revolutions with the basic factory
lubrication. The balls on the screw cover a distance of around 12,800 km.
For applications which require relubrication, various lubrication options
ensure optimum accessibility to the linear guides in the machine.

Gast Manufacturing, Benton Harbor, MI, has
released a two-horsepower rocking piston compressor. The Gast 120R Series has airflow capacity up to 12 cfm and pressure to 145 psi. One unit
can replace two or more smaller compressors -
meeting a system's pressure demand faster while reducing extra hardware and maintenance costs. The compressor, which can be easily integrated into an existing system, provides an oil-free design.

■ Mid-IR Detector

■ AI-Enabled Software

Opto Diode, Camarillo, CA, has introduced
a high-performance, two-stage, cooled, lead
selenide (PbSe) detector that operates in the
mid-infrared (IR) spectral region with peak
sensitivity between 4.3 and 4.5 μm. The cooler
on the BXT2S-28T allows the detector element to operate as low as
-45 °C to maximize detectivity (D*). The device also features responsivity of 7.5 × 104 V/W (typical). The detector provides high sensitivity
when monitoring small changes in gas mixtures.

Synopsys, Mountain View, CA, has released AIenabled software for segmentation and landmarking in orthopedics and cardiology. Simpleware R2021.03 adds fully automated segmentation and
landmarking tools for new anatomies, as well as improvements to the software's established family of AI-enabled workflows. Algorithms are verified
by clinical professionals and are scalable to process large batches of data
up to 50 times faster than traditional methods. The modules produce
models in just 1-3 minutes when using a standard engineering laptop.
