Fiber Coatings Measurement System
Optical Filters

Photonics (Solihull, UK)
the FGC-P is a new fully
automated system for directly measuring the geometry of optical fiber coatings. Able to measure fibers
with coating diameters from 100 μm to 260 μm, the fast, userfriendly system is ideal for producing reliable, accurate measurements in production and R&D environments. Parameters that can
be measured include coating diameter, coating non-circularity
and coating-cladding concentricity in standard telecom fibers as
well as in specialty products such as polarization maintaining
(PM) fibers. Arden Photonics' novel liquid cell enables it to handle thin fibers with dimensions down to 60 μm cladding / 100 μm
coating, and layer thicknesses as small as 10 μm.
Alluxa, Inc. (Santa Rosa,
CA) developed specialty optical filters used aboard the
Perseverance Rover, which
landed safely on Mars on
February 18, 2021. Alluxa's
special notch filter is optimized for high performance
over a wide-angle range in order to provide in-band light to the
Scanning Habitable Environments with Raman &
Luminescence for Organics and Chemicals (SHERLOC) imager. Alluxa's filters help enable non-contact detection and characterization of organics and minerals on Mars' surface.
Developed in conjunction with NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in
Pasadena, California, the SHERLOC instrument, part of the
Perseverance payload, is a Deep UV (DUV) resonance Raman
and fluorescence spectrometer that will scan for past life on
Mars and help identify rock samples for possible return to
Earth.

349nm Single Frequency Laser

(Edinburgh, Scotland)
has launched its new
ultra-violet (UV) laser -
The Duetto 349 - a single frequency DPSS CW
device that emits at 349
nanometers (nm) with
a 50 mW output. This high-performance laser can be used
across a wide range of scientific research and industrial engineering processes including tasks such as Raman spectroscopy,
flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, high-precision optics and
biomedical engineering. The Duetto 349 only uses one nonlinear step, as opposed to two, without the need for a Nd:YAG
fundamental laser at 1064 nm, making it smaller and more efficient, overall, whereas HeCd - being a large, gas filled laser produces an output at 325 nm.

GPU Modules
Cincoze (New Taipei City,
Taiwan) has expanded the Cincoze
GM-1000's machine vision application performance with two new
Quadro MXM GPU modules.
Building on the GM-1000's processing base, the MXM-RTX3000 and MXM-T1000 provide the
additional GPU capacity for rapid adoption of machine vision
in smart factories, from simple environmental perception
applications such as positioning, measurement, identification,
and sorting, to more complex vision-guided automation functions. GPU requirements for each scenario are different, so
specifications must match the environment and application.
The two new Quadro® MXM GPU modules broaden the GM1000's available selection to cover a wider range of uses.

(Waltham, MA) announced the
LINOS® d.fine HR Area Scan
Module, which enables area scan
applications for the company's
d.fine HR 2.4/128 3.33× highresolution inspection lens. The
combination of d.fine HR Lens
and new Area Scan Module features a large image circle up to 82 mm and a high resolution
up to 300 Lp/mm in a spectral distribution of 400 nm - 750
nm. It is ideal for 120MP and 150MP sensors used in optical
inspection and machine vision applications in the semiconductor, flat panel display (FPD) and electronics manufacturing
industries. The d.fine HR Lens with Area Scan Module accessory can be used with common area scan cameras over 150
MPixel and pixel sizes down to 3.5 μm for optical inspection.
Edmund Optics® (EO) (Barrington,
NJ) has released Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)
Wedged Windows, which are ideal for
infrared (IR) applications, and
TECHSPEC ® Calcium Fluoride
(CaF2) Aspheric Lenses, which have
high transmission from ultraviolet
(UV) to IR wavelengths. Zinc
Selenide (ZnSe) Wedged Windows are designed for use with
high-power CO2 laser systems and are available in two wedge
angle options: 30 arcmin or 3°, which help to eliminate etalon
fringe effects as well as to prevent cavity feedback. TECHSPEC®
Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) Aspheric Lenses have high transmission from 200nm (UV) to 7 μm (IR). The low refractive index
of calcium fluoride reduces Fresnel reflection loss without the
use of anti-reflection (AR) coatings.
