amps continuous current rms and 100 amps
peak current to drive motors in larger mobile
robots. The servo drive has an input voltage range of 20-90 DC, maximum
continuous power output of 4.5 kW, and can be integrated into
tight spaces. The PCB mount servo drive mates directly to the motor axis
PCB. Features include incremental encoder, BISS C-mode feedback, and
torque, velocity, and position operating modes. The drive offers configuration
and full loop tuning, Safe Torque Off, and IMPACT™ architecture.

Robot Monitoring
OnRobot (Odense, Denmark) offers
WebLytics software for production monitoring,
device diagnostics, and data analytics.
The software monitors the performance
of multiple collaborative applications
simultaneously and in real time and gathers equipment data
from both robots and tools to indicate how well a collaborative application
is performing. It identifies trends in real time in the robot cell
including patterns, peaks, and disturbances in application productivity.
The software can report on utilization of the robot arm and tools such
as grippers, vision cameras, and sensors. When changes are made to
a robot cell, such as adjusting the speed of a robot or the settings on
a gripper, the software can also automatically report on the impact of
those changes on application performance.

Stages
Moticont (Van Nuys, CA) released the
HCDS-051-064 Series of Open Aperture
Voice Coil Stages, which are linear DC motor-driven
stages. Designed for closed loop
servo operation, an integral quadrature optical
encoder with differential outputs is
standard. Each stage has a built-in home switch for initialization upon
power up. The stages feature precision threaded mounting holes for
tooling or fixtures, linear travel of 1.20 " (30.5 mm), plug-and-play wired
connectors, and resolution of 29.5 microns and 25.4 microns. They are
available with either a continuous force of 4.7 lbs. and a peak force of
14.9 lbs. or a continuous force of 6.6 lbs. and a peak force of 20.0 lbs.
Aperture diameters 0.5 " and 0.75 " are available.

has introduced LS Electric servos systems
that provide setup wizards, auto-tuning,
and a built-in indexer for motion control
applications. There are five standard
servo motors from 100 W to 1 kW that
can be operated in combination with
one of two standard servo drives. The L7C drives accept single-phase
200-230 VAC and are controlled via analog speed or torque signal, highspeed
pulse train, or internal indexing. Setup is performed with a built-in
keypad/display or DriveCM PC-based software. The L7C family includes
standard accessories such as pre-made servo motor encoder cables and
servo motor power/brake cables. DIN-rail mount I/O breakout kits allow
for connection of external command and I/O signals; optional external
braking resistors and optional AC input filters are also available.

SCARA Robots
A line of Selective Compliance Assembly Robot
Arm (SCARA) robots is available from Trio Motion
Technology (Gloucestershire, UK) to provide robot
control, motion control, and machine automation
from a single controller. The robots are designed
pick-and-place, assembly, and dispensing applications.
Four robots are available that extend from
a 400-mm arm range and a 3-kg maximum load
capacity, through to a 700-mm arm range and a 6-kg
maximum load capacity. Each is powered by four Trio MX series servo
motors that are individually controlled by a Trio DX4 servo drive and a Trio
motion coordinator that can simultaneously control the overall machine,
instead of a separate controller for machine and robot.

Absolute Encoder
Leine Linde (Strängnäs, Sweden) introduced the
RSA 500 splash-proof and corrosion-resistant absolute
encoder for machinery positioning and synchronization.
The encoder housing and encapsulation are
made of stainless steel grade 1.4404 to prevent corrosion.
To minimize the number of possible leakage
points, a press-fit assembly is used instead of a standard assembly, eliminating
screws and screw holes where processed food, bacteria, and other
pollutants could accumulate. To further protect the encoder from acidic
liquid intrusion, its body can be slightly pressurized using compressed
air. The IP 67-rated encoder could be used in applications that process
corrosive liquids, either in the food or chemical industries.

Accelerometer
Endevco (Dewpew, NY) announced the
Model 7274A accelerometer for high-g shock
applications. The rugged, triaxial, piezoresistive
accelerometer is designed for high-acceleration
shock measurements in three mutually perpendicular axes.
The housing features a low-noise, eight-conductor cable that can
repeatedly withstand the high-acceleration shock environment. The
accelerometer is available in 2K, 6K, 20K, and 60K g full-scale ranges
and features high-resonance frequency and is rugged to three times
the full-scale range.
