Mother’s Day is one of the top holidays of the year for bakeries. Mother’s Day decorated cakes are a great place to start. Beyond that, think of ways to offer special indulgent desserts or even breakfast-in-bed gift baskets filled with cookies and other bakery treats. Make sure to have plenty of special cakes and gift ideas to help your customers treat Mom to the special day she deserves! One creative idea is to make a classic Bundt cake and decorate it with chocolate-covered strawberries along the edges. This will appeal to both Hispanic and nonHispanic customers alike.

EASTER
Easter season, along with the arrival of spring, represents a time of rebirth. Easter cakes are popular for this holiday, especially those decorated in spring colors. One creative way to dazzle your customers is by creating unique mousse cakes. Creating a delicious — and beautiful — mousse cake can be a simple process, if you have the right tools and know some quick and easy tips. Add a border to the mousse cake by using items such as chocolate pieces or fresh fruit. For the topping, dip pieces of fresh fruit into the glaze for sheen and add to the top of the cake. For a real pop of color, use red, yellow and green fruits, along with one or two darker colors.

NATIONAL DONUT DAY
National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of every June to commemorate the Salvation Army’s involvement in preparing fresh donuts to the homesick soldiers that served in France during World War I. National Donut Day was officially established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise much-needed funds during the Great Depression. Donuts are America’s favorite sweet treat, so naturally, and continuing a successful partnership, BakeMark is proud to sponsor the National Donut Day celebrations with The Salvation Army. BakeMark’s donations help The Salvation Army in its worthy Veteran Assistance programs and other humanitarian efforts.

QUINCEAÑERAS
Many families with teenage children wait until summer vacation to host birthday parties for their children who have birthdays during the school year. This gives them more time to plan the special events, including Quinceañera celebrations, and allows your bakery another opportunity to shine! The celebration typically includes a “Changing of the Shoes” ceremony, in which the father trades his daughter’s flat shoes for high heels. Another creative idea is to create unique cupcake towers made from mini cupcakes and positioned on a cupcake tree.
