Cake Extravaganza
A stunning depiction of a circus carousel topped with fun-loving
mice earned cake decorator Keri Sheheen of Mother Mousse Bakery a pair of top honors at the 2016 Atlantic Bakery Expo Cake
Decorating Extravaganza on April 4 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Sheheen won both the novelty/specialty category and the Best
in Show award at the cake competition, which featured dozens
of top cake decorators across the country competing in either
the student or professional division. Sheheen won $500 for the
novelty category win and another $500 for Best in Show.
Mother Mousse Bakery is located in Staten Island, New York.
Fiona Black and Dorey Williams, the owners of Sweet Nothings
Fine Cakes and Desserts and familiar faces on the cake decorating competition scene, captured the other two top awards in the
professional division.
Black won a $500 ﬁrst prize for her elegant creation in the tiered
cake category.
Not be outdone, Williams took home the $500 ﬁrst prize in the
sculpted category with an amazing lifelike depiction of a spotted
leopard standing tall on a rock.
Sweet Nothing Fine Cakes and Desserts is a Wyandotte, Michigan-based bakery serving the Detroit metro area since 2004.
CSM Bakery Solutions sponsored the 2016 Cake Decorating
Extravaganza, and CSM's Ed Henry presented a winning trophy
to each decorator.
Cash prizes were also given out to second and third place ﬁnishers
in each category in both the professional and student divisions.
An esteemed panel of judges gave careful consideration to each
cake entry. The judges were Bronwen Weber, executive chef and
owner of Frosted Art Bakery & Studio in Dallas, Texas, Odette
D'Aniello, founder and president of Celebrity Cake Studio in Tacoma, Washington, Roberto Castellano, head pastry chef of Sapienza Bake Shop in Elmont, New York, Scott Calvert, owner of The
Cake Plate in Austin, Texas, and John Lupo, founder of Grandma's
