agencia de marketing C|O se asoció con
Maeve Webster de MenuMatters para
realizar una encuesta para averiguarlo.
Más de 1,100 consumidores de todo el
país, que representan a todos los grupos de
edad, estaban ansiosos por compartir sus
experiencias y opiniones.
Casi la mitad de todos los consumidores
está preocupado por la cadena de
suministro de alimentos de EE.UU.,
probablemente impulsado por una gran
escasez durante el apogeo de la crisis
y la cobertura de los medios sobre la
posibilidad de la escasez de carne. Los más
preocupados: la generación X, así como los
consumidores del área de New England y
las regiones centro-sur de EE.UU.

los consumidores está preocupado
por contraer el coronavirus cuando
compran comestibles-y el nivel de
preocupación es constante en todos los
grupos de consumidores encuestados.
Esto probablemente explica por qué la
mitad usa la recolección o la entrega por
lo menos parte del tiempo. Como era de
esperar, los Milenios han adoptado estas
dos tendencias más que cualquier otro
grupo demográfico, mientras que es menos
probable que los Boomers hayan usado
cualquiera de las dos.
Poco menos de dos tercios encuentran
frustrante la compra de comestibles
hasta cierto punto, y es más probable
que las mujeres y los Milenios mayores
(especialmente aquellos con varios
hijos más pequeños) se sientan muy
o extremadamente frustrados por la
experiencia. Los minoristas tienen la
oportunidad de ampliar la comunicación
y tomar medidas aún más proactivas para
comunicarse con los compradores.

Prácticamente todos los consumidores
enfrentaron situaciones de agotamiento
de existencias, y muchos encontraron
nuevas marcas, productos o categorías
que continuarán comprando después
de la pandemia. Debido a la escasez
circunstancial o a las interrupciones en el
suministro, muchos consumidores están
encontrando nuevas marcas, productos o
categorías que tienen la intención de seguir
comprando después de la pandemia.
La mayoría de los consumidores está
preocupada por la seguridad sanitaria
de los trabajadores de la industria
alimentaria-desde la agricultura hasta el
comercio minorista. Y un poco más del
23% está extremadamente preocupado.
Con casi el 60% de los consumidores
muy o extremadamente preocupado
por la seguridad de los trabajadores
alimentarios, la industria debe abordar
estas preocupaciones para garantizar la
confianza del cliente y la buena voluntad
del consumidor, particularmente con la
conciencia emergente de los problemas de
justicia social.
