cake (keyk) n., v. Adding Shimmer with Aerosol When it comes to color, you can make cakes pop, simply by adding a touch of shimmer. Sometimes just adding some glitz to a rose or to background color will bring a cake to life. There are a number ways to shimmer a cake that can range all the way up to hightech airbrushing machines. But for speed, accuracy and efficiency, you can often get as much glitter, shimmer and sparkle from a disposable can of aerosol spray as you can from an airbrush—and it can be more compact, convenient and cost-effective for your needs. Chefmaster offers edible aerosol sprays that come in 2-oz. cans that are easy to use, as well as versatile and flexible. Use the sprays to cover an overall cake, or use stencils to create a detailed metallic design. To use the Edible Aerosol Spray, Chefmaster suggests the following tips: • Shake the product until the metal ball in the can is heard for more than one minute • Follow the proper usage tips for the aerosol can as indicated in the box below. Chefmaster’s New Extended Line Chefmaster, a leading supplier of edible colors for cake decorating, including gels, liqua-gels, airbrush, candy colors and more, has recently announced their acquisition of Cake Craft and is in the process of integrating the company into Chefmaster. With this acquisition, Chefmaster will reformulate and match Cake Crafts’ entire line of colors and market it under the Chefmaster brand. Customers who previously had preference for specific shades and hues will now have the choice between both companies’ hues—such as forest green—labeled under the Chefmaster brand. Once the new, extended product line is complete, customers can purchase all the products from their distributor. In the meantime, Cake Craft customers can buy directly from Chefmaster. “We are excited about the opportunities this will present and welcome current customers of Cake Craft into the Chefmaster family,” says David Hibbs, director of business development for Chefmaster. C Tips for Best Use of the Aerosol Spray System Before spraying, check to make certain that the center of the spray nozzle lines up with the dot on the rim. When spraying, hold can at a slight angle that is no more than 90º. The product will spray most efficiently at this angle. Do not point can downward while spraying. The product will not spray properly when held in this position because the dip tube cannot reach the liquid. • Occasionally stop and shake during usage to make sure the pigment is properly dispersed. • Hold the spray at least 5-6 inches away from spraying surface, and use a sweeping motion. • Use only as much product as you need to get the results you want—less is best. Chefmaster’s Edible Aerosol Spray is made with a combination of propellants and FD&C approved pigments. For sparkling effect, choose Gold, Silver or Pearl, which has a clear sparkle.
