You could not have chosen a better City to hold the International Baking Industry Exposition – the baking industry’s largest, most comprehensive tradeshow where hundreds of exhibitors will showcase the latest in cutting-edge technologies, ingredients, equipment, baking supplies and new products. This year’s expo will provide the learning opportunities to stay ahead of the baking industry’s fast moving curve. While attending the International Baking Industry Exposition at the Las Vegas Convention Center, it is my hope that you will have a chance to explore Downtown Las Vegas, an area of our City that is undergoing a dramatic renaissance. It is evolving into a vibrant place for living, working, entertainment and the arts. Two thousand twelve (2012) was truly the “Year of Downtown” in Las Vegas, and I believe we have successfully carried that momentum into 2013. The core of the city is a place of incredible energy from the 18B Arts District to the nightlife on the Fremont East Entertainment District. The 2012 openings of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the new City Hall, the Mob Museum, and the Neon Museum, along with the remodeling of some of our landmark hotels, have all contributed to a renaissance that is unparalleled throughout our nation. In 2013, we also welcomed Discovery Children’s Museum to its new home near the Smith Center. I hope you have a chance to visit and share in the energy and excitement.
