Welcome to IBIE

New features take show to next level

hen the doors
opened for the first
day of the 2019 International Baking
Industry Exposition (IBIE), crowds
were welcomed by the largest scale
show in the Expo's nearly 100-year history. With a sold-out show floor, new
interactive experiences and a showcase
of industry innovations, 2019 is an exciting year for the global grain-based
food industry's largest trade event in
the Western Hemisphere.
"IBIE is the baking community's
best opportunity to come together

and celebrate the industry's advancements, develop new skills, build powerful relationships, collaborate to
address challenges and explore innovations," said Joe Turano, president,
Turano Baking Co., Berwyn, IL, and
IBIE committee chair.
The show unofficially kicked off on
Saturday with a full day dedicated to
IBIEducate programming. IBIEducate will feature more than 100 sessions throughout the show, making it
the largest baking education event in
the world, said Mr. Turano. If attendees missed Saturday's programming,

many of the sessions will be repeated
over the next four days.
In addition to more than 1,000
exhibitors attendees will see over the
next four days, attendees will have the
opportunity to check out a number of
show features. For a full list, use the

"IBIE wouldn't be the same without popular returning features," Mr.
Turano said. "There have been rapid advancements in the past three
years, and IBIE 2019 is the place to
see them."

Grupo Bimbo receives
Sustainability Award
Commercial baking today places a
heavy emphasis on people and the
planet. To recognize this, Baking &
Snack launched its first Sustainability Award, presented to Grupo Bimbo,
Mexico City.
In accordance with Grupo Bimbo's
mission to be a sustainable, highly productive and deeply humane company,
and to achieve the goals for its 2020 Vision, the company developed its multifaceted sustainability strategy.
Through four pillars - Community, Associates, Health and Wellness,
