Whole Foods Market’s Northeast Region recently announced its two newest New York City locations: Harlem and Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The Harlem store, located at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue, is being planned to open during summer 2015 and will be 39,000 square feet. The future Upper East Side store, located at 87th Street and 3rd Avenue, will be 38,000 square feet and will open in early 2014. More Americans than ever are choosing natural and organic foods, according to the fifth annual Whole Foods Market Food Shopping Trend Tracker Survey. The research revealed that nearly three out of four Americans (73%) don’t want to compromise on the quality of the food they buy regardless of current food prices. Fair trade is another key issue, and Whole Foods is committed to issues such as fair trade chocolates. “Offering fairly traded chocolate is especially important to us because cocoa comes from some of the poorest and most remote areas of the world,” says Errol Schweizer, executive global grocery coordinator for Whole Foods Market.
