gear up for thanksgiving parties CONNECTING TO COMMUNITIES Supermarket chains like Schnuck Markets are taking bolder steps to connect with their local customers by investing in remodels that are more attuned to current deli and bakery demand. In late 2013, 100-store Schnuck Markets completed a remodel of its South City store in St. Louis, further strengthening ties within its home city. Chairman Scott Schnuck noted that investing in this store is one of the best ways to celebrate the company's 75th Anniversary year in 2014. Schnucks started as a 1,000-sq-ft corner confectionery in North St. Louis in 1939. "Today, we are proud to serve St. Louis City customers at nine locations," Schnuck says. "We started with new shelving and refrigeration and updated the lighting and décor throughout the store." Nick Collora, store manager at the South City Schnuck Markets store According to store manager Nick Collora, the South City store was renovated from floor to ceiling. "Our customers and teammates are raving about the new look and new shopping experience," Collora says. "We started with new shelving and refrigeration and updated the lighting and décor throughout the store. On the fresh side, we've expanded the food bar, deli and seafood department which now includes a brand new sushi bar and daily fish fry. The floral department has been upgraded and relocated, while the bakery now includes muffin and bulk cookie carts."
