spotlight Donuts BY THE NUMBERS Donuts Contribution to Bakery Sales by Region 11.1% 5% 7.4% Donuts contributed 7.8 percent to bakery department dollar sales during the 52 weeks ending January 30, 2016, averaging sales of $925 per store per week, steady compared to the previous year. Donuts posted the largest contribution to bakery sales in the Central region, contributing 11.1 percent to bakery department sales. The Central region also posted the highest average sales, at $1,399 per store per week. Each of the US regions maintained or slightly increased sales compared to the previous year. Donut sales were highest during the month of December, peaking the week ending December 12, 2015, at $1,135 per store. The second highest-selling week for donuts was the week ending December 19, 2015, at $1,056 followed by the week of the Christmas holiday (the week ending December 26, 2015) at $991 per store.
