Perhaps one of the most noticeable eating trends taking root in perishable foods departments is the rise in snack purchases. Snacking has morphed into an important part of a growing number of consumers' daily eating schedule, representing half of all eating occasions. Overall, 90 percent of consumers say they snack multiple times per day, with seven percent stating they forgo meals altogether in favor of all-day snacking.
