TEGMA names Petersen as president
WASHINGTON - The Transportation, Elevator and Grain Merchants
Association has named Bob Petersen
as its new president.
Previously, the administrative services of the association had been
handled by the Commodity Markets
Council, which was also known as the
National Grain Trade Council. Mr. Petersen's company, Petersen Consulting
Services, L.L.C., will now manage the
association's activities.
"TEGMA is very pleased to retain Bob
Petersen to manage our association,"

said Mike Mandl, TEGMA chairman.
"We believe he can continue the
professionalism and services that
were so ably handled by C.M.C./
N.G.T.C. for over 20 years. As
C.M.C. charts a new path for its
membership, TEGMA's board felt
it was in the membership's best
interest that TEGMA move ahead Petersen
on its own."
In the near future the association will transition its operations
from C.M.C.'s Washington office to
Mr. Petersen's Kansas City office.

John Lee and Doug Beahm join Roman Meal
TACOMA, WASH. - The Roman Meal
Co., a maker of whole grain bread and
other grain-based foods products, has
named John Lee and Doug Beahm to
new positions with the
company.
Mr. Lee has been
named vice-president
of customer collaboration with responsibility
for all domestic bakery
sales.

Earthgrains and Sara Lee.

Meal as director of consumer packaged goods. In his new position he
is responsible for Roman Meals new

Baker known for research achievements dies at 75
SEATTLE - Gordon W. Wedman, a baker
involved in research and development for decades, died at age 75 on April 15 in Seattle. He
was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Jamestown, N.D.
Mr. Wedman attended Dunwoody Institute and received a degree in baking in 1951.
He also received a bachelor's of science degree in economics from Jamestown College
in Jamestown, N.D., in 1957. Mr. Wedman
worked as a baker for Hoves Supermarkets
in Minneapolis. While going to school in
Jamestown, he worked for Vita Bakery.
Mr. Wedman was director of bakery technical services for Swift and Co., edible oils
division, in Chicago from 1957 to 1980. He

concentrated on the product improvement
of fats and oils for the baking industry. He
also prepared promotional and advertising materials for trade journal releases and
wrote formula booklets, including "After
all it Takes a Baker."
Mr. Wedman joined the management
of Hazelwood Farms Bakeries in St. Louis
as research and development manager in
1983. Will Bellar, retired chief executive officer of Hazelwood Farms, referred to him
as one of the most creative and technically
knowledgeable bakers in the industry.
A memorial service for Mr. Wedman was
