Quinoa powder enters
U.S. market
Novel Ingredient Services, West Caldwell, N.J., has
become the exclusive U.S. distributor (neutraceutical
market) for Quinoasure, a quinoa powder suitable for use as
an ingredient in foods, beverages, dietary supplements and
meal replacements. The company also will serve Canada and
Mexico.
Quinoasure is available in both conventional and organic
form. It is odorless, virtually tasteless and has better
mouthfeel than quinoa grain,

Nu-Tek, Cain Food partner
on sodium reduction
Nu-Tek Food Science, Minnetonnka, Minn., and Cain Food
Industries, Inc., Dallas, have signed an agreement under which
Cain will become Nu-Tek’s exclusive broker and distributor for
the grain-based foods industry in the United States.
“Our partnership with Cain Food Industries provides
a great opportunity to bring our sodium-reduction
technology to bakers and manufacturers in the grainbased food industry,” said Tom Manuel, chief executive

Nu-Tek Food Science owns patented, single-crystal

A collaboration between Arcadia Biosciences, Inc., Davis,
Calif., and DuPont Pioneer, Des Moines, Iowa, will seek
to develop healthier oils for global consumer markets, the
two companies said April 9. The underlying focus will be
to create new safflower varieties that produce oils with
arachidonic acid, a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid.
Arcadia Biosciences will receive certain licenses to specific
innovations and intellectual property of DuPont Pioneer.

Arcadia. “This new collaboration is an effective way to enable
these innovations to get into the hands of consumers. Arcadia’s
experience in the development, regulatory management,
production and marketing of high-value specialty nutritional

safflower oil and coupled with DuPont Pioneer’s established
track record — creates a powerful alliance.”
Sonova 400 is a dietary supplement that contains gamma
linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid.
