Krispy Kreme expands in India
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The international integration
of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. continues with news
that the donut maker opened its first store in Delhi, India,
on Dec. 14. The new cafe is the first of 35 planned Krispy
Kreme stores in Northern India by Krispy Kreme's new
franchise partner, Bedrock Foods Pvt., Ltd.
"We are excited to partner with Bedrock Food Co. in taking
the one-of-a-kind Krispy Kreme taste and experience to the
people of Delhi," said Jeff Welch, president of Krispy Kreme
International. "With our initial launch in Bangalore this past
January, we have seen great acceptance of Krispy Kreme and
our signature products by the Indian consumer. The opening

The new unit is located on the first floor of the Select City
Walk mall and features an assortment of 16 donut varieties, including Krispy Kreme's signature Original Glazed donut, plus
a range of beverages, including coffees, teas and iced beverages.

Pvt., Ltd., said the company's donuts will be made with an
eggless recipe, developed specifically to meet the needs of
Indian consumers.
Krispy Kreme entered India earlier in 2013 through a franchise agreement with Citymax Hotels India Pvt. Ltd., the hospitality division of Dubai-based retailer Landmark group. Citymax obtained franchising rights to develop 80 Krispy Kreme
stores across south and west India over the next five years, with
the first store opening in January 2013 in Bangalore. MBN

WINNIPEG, MAN. - Cargill has begun construction to
expand storage and rail at its Viking, Alta., grain handling
facility. Storage capacity will increase by approximately
10,000 tonnes, to 24,000 tonnes from 14,000 tonnes, and car
rail handling will increase to 100 cars from 52 previously.
"We recognize the need for more storage and additional
car spots," said Jeff Vassart, president of Cargill Ltd. "We
have an opportunity to manage how our grain will move
and improve rail shipment efficiency."
The Viking facility ships the majority of its grain to Cargill's North Vancouver and Prince Rupert export terminals
via rail. Doubling its rail car capacity creates more efficiency throughout the industry, Cargill said.
"With the record 70 million-tonne crop Canada saw this
year, the entire industry needs to optimize our ability to
perform," Mr. Vassart said. "Since extra volumes primarily
will be exported, each element of the supply chain needs to
be as efficient as possible. We all have challenges, whether
it's on-farm, elevator, rail or port. Collaboration throughout
the industry is what will drive change and improvement."
The expansion also will mean more jobs. Cargill will hire four
more full-time positions, ranging from sales to operations.

AgHorizons in Viking. "Our Viking location and team of
employees have a reputation of providing our growers
with excellent customer service and effective handling.
This expansion will even further enhance our ability to best
serve our local customers."
