John L. Blish, president of the
Blish Milling Co., Seymour,
Ind., died suddenly Dec. 24
following a brief illness. He
was 44.
A week later, a tribute was
published to Mr. Blish by W.H.
Strowd, secretary of the National Soft Wheat Miller's was
published. Excerpts follow:
"It is with deepest sorry we announced the untimely passing
of John L. Blish...Following
his graduation from Yale, John
entered the milling business
with which his family had been
associated since early colonial
times. Abraham Blish, his direct
ancestor, established a mill at
Barnstable, Mass., in 1659, only
39 years after the landing of the
Pilgrims... Although a young
man (44) of retiring disposition
and shunning the limelight,
John's administration has been a
sane and successful one despite
the trying conditions of war and
