CaPao snacks use the juice from cacaofruit pulp
with the addition of nuts, seeds, spices and
herbs. The brand is designed to "rescue and

Unless steps are taken to mitigate climate
change, simultaneous, prolonged drought could
hit global wheat-growing areas, according to a
study in Science Advances.

U.S. production of 1,961.7 million bus would
be the largest since 2,309 million bus in 2016.
Significant unharvested acreage of durum
remains.

Considerable controversy bubbled over in the
nutrition community last week after scientists
published recommendations suggesting
that consumers who cut back on meat
consumption over many years should expect
little or no health benefits to result from the
change. The research, gathered by a group of
scientists from more than a dozen countries
around the world, was published in Annals of
Internal Medicine. "The certainty of evidence
for the potential adverse health outcomes
associated with meat consumption was low
to very low," the researchers said.
The researchers were not unanimous in
their conclusions (3 of 14 believe red meat
consumption should be reduced), and the
study drew criticism from numerous public
health groups, ranging from the American
Heart Association to the Harvard T.H. Chan
School of Public Health.
Even before the study was published, meat
consumption had been trending upward
for several years, propelled by the desire
of many consumers to raise protein intake
and cut back on carbohydrates. Scientific
findings challenging the health risks posed
by saturated fat also have helped. U.S. per
capita consumption of red meat reached 220
lbs in 2018, up 17 lbs, or 9%, since 2013.
Even without the blessing of the scientific
establishment, it's likely these latest findings
will give consumers an even greater sense
of liberation as they elevate intake of meat.
For milling and baking, the road to reigniting
growth in per capita consumption of flourbased products just grew steeper. MBN
