KANSAS CITY - Health care issues surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19)
pandemic were front and center in daily
White House press conferences last week,
but food supply topics also stood out
in remarks by President Donald Trump
from one day to the next, including the
adequacy of food at supermarkets and
issues surrounding the abrupt closing of
most US restaurants for seated service.
Amid widespread disruptions in
the economic life of the United States
because of social distancing needed to
slow the spread of the virus, the food
supply chain has continued to hum
along with minimal disruptions, so far.
The same may not be said of major industry meetings, which have been canceled one after the other, including annual meetings of the American Bakers
Association and IAOM International.
