Soft red winter wheat quality
much improved from recent years
US Wheat Associates affirmed the quality of this year's
soft red winter wheat crop was much better than those
harvested in recent years. Based on 191 samples taken
from the new crop, 2020 soft red winter wheat was
superior in test weight, thousand kernel weight, falling
number and other qualities compared with both the
2019 crop and recent ﬁve-year average. The crop was
graded No. 2 soft red winter compared with No. 3 last
year and as the ﬁve-year average.

Millers in the Central states are pleased
with the new crop supply.

Pardue to auction grain
elevator, pulse plant
CUT BANK, MONT. - Pardue Grain Inc. will sell its
grain elevator and pulse processing facility in Cut Bank
in September at auction. The
facility recently underwent
an $8.25 million expansion
that included a food grade
pulse processing facility with
warehouse, expanded grain
handling bins and conveying
equipment along with new
scale house and main office
buildings. The auction is to be
hosted by Maas Companies.
"The perfect storm of significant construction delays outside of the owner's control and
the recent pandemic are key
factors forcing the sale," Maas
Companies said. The facility
is 12 miles west of Cut Bank
with its own 10-car private
rail spur off BNSF's mainline.
It holds several food grade
ratings, including organic and
kosher certifications.

Greencore temporarily
shuts down facility
DUBLIN, IRELAND - Greencore Group PLC temporarily ceased production at
its facility in Northampton,
England, at the end of the
workday on Aug. 21 due to
a coronavirus (COVID-19)
outbreak in the Northampton
area and at the site. Workers
at the site will self-isolate as
a precautionary measure. A
proportion of the production
in Northampton will move
to other sites within the Greencore network. Greencore
supplies convenience foods,
including chilled, frozen and
ambient foods, to retail and
foodservice customers in the
United Kingdom. Greencore
on Aug. 13 said the company
had started testing all workers at the Northampton site
and confirmed a "significant
number" tested positive and
began self-isolating.

Pieology names new
chief marketing officer
TUSTIN, CALIF. - Adrienne
Berkes, a longtime leader at
Yum! Brands, Inc., has joined

pizzeria
Pieology as chief marketing
officer. Ms. Berkes will be responsible for expansion of
the brand overseas as well as
throughout the United States.
Ms. Berkes joins Pieology from
Yum! Brands, where she spent
more than 17 years in a variety
of roles, most recently as senior
director of restaurant experience strategy and innovation at
Taco Bell. She also has worked
as chief sales and brand officer
and chief marketing officer at
Pizza Hut Europe. Earlier in
her career she spent 12 years at
Taco Bell in a variety of brand
