BBU into recyclable baked foods
packaging through partnership
TRENTON, NJ. - Bimbo Bakeries
USA is forging ahead in its efforts to
make the packaging of its bread, buns,
bagels and English muffins
recyclable across the United States as part of a partnership with TerraCycle.
Details of the program first
surfaced last fall.
"Because plastic bags,
like those used in our packaging, are not recyclable today through household recycling streams, most end
up in landfills," said Fred
Penny, president of BBU.
"Expanding our partnership with TerraCycle enables consumers across the country to easily recycle
our plastic bags from their own homes
at no charge.
"This was an important, immediate
action for our company as we work
toward our commitment of 100%
sustainable packaging by 2025. As
the first and only baking company to

partner with TerraCycle, we have already recycled more than 5 million lbs
of waste and look forward to enabling

consumers to divert more millions of
pounds of plastic from landfills."
BBU said the recycling program
is open to any interested individual,
school, office or community organization. Participants may recycle the packaging by following instructions on the
TerraCycle program page. All submitted packaging is cleaned and melted

into hard plastic that may be remolded
to make new recycled products.

As an added incentive,
for every pound of packaging waste sent to TerraCycle
through the Bimbo Bakeries
USA Bag Recycling Program, collectors earn points
that may be used for charitable gifts or
converted to cash and donated to nonprofit organizations of their choice.
Operating nationally across 21
countries, TerraCycle partners with
consumer product companies, retailers and cities to recycle products and
packages that would otherwise end

Panera partners with Google to
broaden food ordering options
ST. LOUIS - Panera Bread Co. has announced that the company is making
it easier to order food through Google
Search, Google Maps and Google Assistant. The integration with Google's
platforms expands Panera's off-premises
capabilities and accessibility to meet customers where they are.
Available at participating locations
across the country, customers can easily order Panera items through Google
for contactless curbside pickup or delivery. For a limited time, guests who
order Panera through Google will receive 20% off their first delivery or

curbside pickup order of $20 or more.
Through Google Search and Maps,
customers can search for "Panera near
me" on Google and be presented with
an option to order food from their local
bakery cafes.
On Assistant-enabled Android or iOS
phones, customers can simply say "Hey
Google, find Panera near me" to look
up the Panera Bread location nearest to
them and then place an order at the local bakery-cafe.

Coffee Cafe Bakery to build baking
plant to supply Dunkin' shops
ATLANTA - Coffee Cafe Bakery, a
subsidiary of a ZSC Enterprises and
Chunara Food Group (CFG) partnership, has announced plans to invest
approximately $10 million to build
a baked foods production facility in
Fulton County. Once completed, the
31,150-square-foot plant will supply
baked foods to more than 150 Dunkin'

restaurants across the metro Atlanta area.
The new facility will include high-tech
production lines and equipment used
for mixing, frying, glazing and finishing
baked foods, including Dunkin's signature donuts, Coffee Cafe Bakery said. The
company said only about 100 of the production facilities exist nationwide.
