Bühler North America acquires
Design Corrugating Companies
MINNEAPOLIS - Bühler North
America has acquired a roller mill and
other equipment services company,
Design Corrugating Companies.
With the acquisition, Bühler now
operates seven service centers in the
United States, serving grain, oilseed,
feed, pet food and chocolate processors as well as brewers and distillers,
inks and coatings.
Design Corrugating has facilities in
Taylorville, Ill.; Oakdale, Calif.; Wichita, Kan.; and Chattanooga, Tenn.,
which will become service center sites
in the Bühler Customer Service network, and the entire Design Corrugating staff has joined the Bühler team.
" For us, this is only the starting point
to develop the most comprehensive and

value driving services in our industry, "
said Andy Sharpe, chief executive officer of Bühler North America. " Today,
the installed assets base of many companies is not running as optimally as
it could be, and consequently they are

Campbell Soup to shutter Georgia
snacks plant by spring of 2022
COLUMBUS, GA. - Campbell Soup Co.
has announced plans to close its manufacturing facility in Columbus by the
spring of 2022. Campbell Soup employs
326 at the facility, which makes candy,
crackers, cookies, nuts and bars.
Founded in 1927 by Tom Huston, the
Columbus plant has had several owners
throughout its history. Formerly known
as Tom's Foods, the plant was acquired
by Lance in 2005. Campbell Soup acquired the Columbus plant in 2018 as

part of its acquisition of Snyder's-Lance,
Inc. At 94 years old, it is the oldest facility
in the Campbell Soup network.
The company said it plans to operate
the Columbus facility for up to 18 months
and will shut it down in phases.
" Closing one of our facilities is a very difficult decision, " said Valerie Oswalt, executive
vice president and president of Campbell
Snacks. " The Columbus plant is the oldest
in our manufacturing network, making it
difficult to retrofit. Our Columbus team is

PHM flour donation distributed to
Navajo Nation hit hard by COVID
DENVER - PHM Brands and its subsidiary Panhandle Milling partnered
in December with Navajo Agricultural
Products Industry (NAPI) to donate
food to needy families over the Christmas holiday.
The Navajo Nation, which has been
ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, received 28,000 lbs of flour donation, distributed through religious and other nonprofit organizations.
The deliveries were coordinated by
NAPI, which also assisted in transporting the flour.
PHM said the Navajo Nation in May 2020
surpassed New York in COVID-19 cases
per capita. By late November, the group
had 14,441 positive cases and 623 deaths.
Citing Navajo Nation data, PHM said

unemployment in the group stands at 49%.

production of candy under the Lance
brand and will shift production of its

July snacks across the division's manufacturing network.
