The " Grain Chain, " which includes such
leading grain-based foods groups as the
American Bakers Association, the Grain
Foods Foundation, the National Association
of Wheat Growers and the North
American Millers' Association, issued
unanimous support for the new MyPlate
food icon introduced June 2 by the US
Department of Agriculture.
Cargill has realigned its senior leadership,
including the naming of David MacLennan
as president and chief operating officer.

Attendance at the 14th annual Purchasing
Seminar of Milling & Baking News,

Flour Milling Division at Wichita,
Kan., have introduced a new twist
this year by offering wheat farmers a
premium of 5¢ a bu above market bids
for delivering lots of Karl, a wheat variety
recognized for its superior milling
and baking qualities.

Louis Samuel Myers, vice president
and general manager of the Rodney
Milling Co. and one of the outstanding
community leaders of Kansas City, was
killed May 29 in an accidental fall from
a 110-foot grain storage tank at the company's
plant in Kansas City. Mr. Myers
had been associated with the milling
industry since boyhood and was one of
the principals in the development of the
Rodney organization from a 2,000-cwt
enterprise when he joined it in Kansas
City in 1928 to a group of mills with a
combined capacity of 25,000 cwts.
Otto Bresky of Boston, president of
the Rodney Milling Co., Kansas City,
announced at the general offices of
the company in Kansas City June 4 the

appointment of Richard G. Myers as
manager; Harry Bresky, his son , as sales
manager; and Otto Bresky Jr., another
son, as eastern sales manager with headquarters
in Boston.
Paul S. Gerot has been elected executive
vice president of Pillsbury Mills, Inc.,
effective June 1.
The English and French are much less hysterical

said after a trip of two weeks

Gordon have been named co-managers

Turnbull Bakeries, a New Orleans
baker of melba toast, has been reopened
after a one-year shutdown. The business
was closed following the death in March
2010 of 89-year-old Elizabeth Turnbull,
who led the company for many years.
