TGM buys large Illinois elevator,
other assets from The Andersons
BLOOMINGTON, ILL. - Total Grain
Marketing (TGM), a venture of GROWMARK,
Inc., Illini FS, South Central
FS and Wabash Valley Service Co., has
acquired the Champaign, Ill.-based grain
assets of The Andersons, Inc., including
the largest grain elevator by upright storage
in Illinois.
" The Andersons facility and assets in
Champaign complements Total Grain
Marketing's existing portfolio, " said
Matt Lurkins, executive director of the
GROWMARK Grain Division. " Our goal is
to deliver an unsurpassed customer experience
through local grain market expertise
along with merchandising flexibility
to help deliver increased profitability for
customers. "
TGM said the Champaign location has
more than 16 million bus of storage capacity.
It offers access to a new rail market for
the company and will expand access to
poultry markets across the United States.
The bulk fertilizer business in the Champaign
complex was not included in the
transaction, the companies said.

base by concentrating on strong relationships

Established in 2006 as a venture
between Effingham-Clay Service Co.
(now South Central FS), GROWMARK,
Inc. and Wabash Valley Service Co.,
Michigan Bread acquires Franklin
Street Bakery in Minneapolis
TAYLOR, MICH. - Michigan Bread,
the largest independent family-owned
commercial artisan bakery in Michigan,
has acquired Minneapolis-based Franklin
Street Bakery. Financial terms of the
transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1994, Franklin Street
Bakery is an SQF-certified, wholesale
baking company that provides artisan
bread, sliced bread, buns and hoagies to
restaurants, retail stores and foodservice
operations.
According to the companies, the 125
employees of Franklin Street Bakery
will join the 175 employees of Michigan
Bread in rebranding as The Good Bread
Co. Pat Siebenaler, who has been at
Franklin Street Bakery since 2006 and
currently is the company's director of

operations, will oversee the Minnesota
facility.

for high-quality, better-for-you
breads and rolls serving the restaurant
and foodservice industry, following the
same traditional baking processes as
Michigan Bread, " said Spiros Assimacopoulos,

two organizations to grow rapidly
by capitalizing on existing shared

capacity, production optimization, and a

MANKATO, MINN. - CHS Inc. is expanding
and renovating its Mankato soybean
processing plant.
The more than $60 million project is the
second phase of CHS investments to capitalize
on changing market dynamics and
opportunities to grow market access, the
company said. When upgrades are completed,
annual refined soybean oil production
at the Mankato facility will increase by
more than 35%.
With improvements to optimize soybean
oil refining, related plant improvements
include upgrading and expanding
the entire refining process, and improving
process flows to reduce operating costs.
Project completion is expected in late summer

service and recommendations in the

operate on the CN, CSX, WATCO, INRD,

have the capability to hold 375 rail
