Dry dairy product prices were mostly
steady to higher last week, cheese prices were
mixed, and butter values were little changed.
Nonfat dry milk (NDM) prices continued
their upward trend with values the highest
since 2014. Support for low/medium-heat
NDM prices came from ongoing strong export
demand, especially from Mexico, coupled
with steady-to-increasing domestic demand
even as prices were rising. Production was
mixed, and inventories were tightening. In
the high-heat NDM market, prices followed
other grades higher. Supplies were typically
tight. Demand was moderate but tends to
increase during the fall baking season.

" Foodservice orders are mixed throughout
the region, " the USDA said concerning
butter sales in the West. " Some stakeholders
describe strong regional sales, but others
indicate pockets of faltering demand, particularly
in the restaurant sector, amidst rising
COVID case counts, dine-in restrictions and
