leftovers, into healthy and sustainable ingredients.
The company's Arrabina brand of arabinoxylan plant fiber extract, a prebiotic
dietary fiber, has been clinically proven to promote growth of beneficial
bacteria in the gut, help maintain healthy blood glucose levels and support
immunity. The company's line of Sweeterra syrups is a sustainable and lower
sugar alternative to traditional sweeteners with no trade-offs in taste and performance,
according to the company, which in July raised $22 million in a
Series C funding round.
Based in Boston, Motif FoodWorks recently opened a research and development
lab dedicated to analytics, food science, fermentation and more
to aid its efforts in discovering new approaches to formulating plant-based
foods that taste better and are more nutritious than current options in the
marketplace.
The company has raised a total of $345 million, including $226 million in
a Series B round in June. Motif planned to use the funds to scale and commercialize
its food technologies, expand its facilities and grow its team. Investments
in those areas will be key to accelerating its mission of solving sensory
and nutritional challenges with existing plant-based foods, including meat and
dairy alternatives, said Jonathan McIntyre, CEO.
NATURE'S FYND
Nature's Fynd, Chicago, manufactures Fy, an alternative protein sourced from
fungi and produced through fermentation.

Eat Just, Inc. achieved a milestone late last year when its cultured chicken
product received regulatory approval to be sold in Singapore. The country became
the first in the world to commercialize cell-based meat products, and
the cultured chicken item, marketed under the brand Good Meat, is currently
