COMPANY OVERVIEW
Aspire Bakeries
A
ryzta North America received a fresh start
in 2021 when the business was acquired
by private equity firm Lindsay Goldberg for
$850 million and renamed Aspire Bakeries.
In taking on the Aspire Bakeries moniker, the
Los Angeles-based company said it hopes to better
communicate its aim to " continue to move upwards. "
A month after the company was rebranded,
the business unveiled its new logo.
The logo features the company name and an
enlarged letter " A " in which the horizontal line is
replaced by a stalk of wheat positioned diagonally,
pointing upward.
Moving forward, Aspire Bakeries said its strategies
will remain focused on building out its three
core brands - La Brea Bakery, Otis Spunkmeyer
and Oakrun Farm Bakery - as well as on quickservice
restaurants, foodservice and retail in-store
bakeries.
" Our brands established our North American
business as a leader in baked goods, as they all
have strong, long-standing reputations of providing
customers with delectable foods across
the artisan bread and baked goods categories, "
Tyson Yu, chief executive officer of Aspire Bakeries,
said in mid-May when the company was acquired.
" Aspire Bakeries will execute a business
strategy that focuses on continued innovation
Formerly Aryzta North America, Aspire seeks to 'continue to move upwards'
and growth across our beloved brands. "
Innovation will continue to be a key focus area
for Aspire Bakeries, as the company said it will
invest in its three brands to drive growth in both
retail and foodservice. During the past year La
Brea Bakery expanded its Take & Bake portfolio
to include six new flavors, available nationwide in
grocery stores and on Amazon Fresh; Otis Spunkmeyer
launched a hybrid version of its muffin
loaves and introduced frozen edible cookie dough,
available through its fundraising initiative; and
Oakrun Farm Bakery, which until now has only
served the Canadian markets, introduced new flavors
of Belgian waffles (cinnamon and maple) at
Walmart stores nationwide.
" Aspire means to ascend, to soar, and that's
what we are aiming to do for our customers and
our business, " said Christine Prociv, senior vice
president of marketing,
innovation and R&D
at Aspire. " We want to continue to grow so that
we're exceeding our potential to deliver highquality
baked goods to our retail and foodservice
customers and to our loyal consumers who have
played an integral part in our evolution. "
In July, Aspire Bakeries announced it is expanding
its baking plant in Newark, Calif., with the addition
of a new frozen cookie dough line for its Otis
Spunkmeyer cookies.
Aspire Bakeries said production on the new line
will begin in the fall.
In addition to the new frozen cookie dough
line, Aspire Bakeries said it has begun construction
on a sweet baked goods innovation lab at the
Newark baking plant. The lab will feature combination
microwave/convection/radiant heat ovens
and analytical instruments that the company said
will create " the next generation of cookies, muffins,
bars and cakes for Otis Spunkmeyer and its
customers. "
" Aspire Bakeries is committed to the expansion
of its cookie business and responding to increased
customer demand for our popular Otis Spunkmeyer
cookies, " said Beau Netzer, president of foodservice
for Aspire Bakeries. " We continue to invest in our
bakeries to prioritize and support our growth, innovation
capabilities, and supply capacity, with the
ultimate goal of ensuring our customers gain competitive
advantage and achieve success. " CP
