Black Angus cattle are sourced from the High Plains
and fed a Midwestern corn-based ration for a minimum of 100 days prior
to harvesting.
Creekstone's Black Angus beef products range from high-quality Prime
grade fresh beef to premium value-added products and are sold to many leading grocers and restaurants in the U.S.
and abroad. It's natural and premium
beef products include a range of fresh
beef cuts; deli meats (roast beef, corned
beef, and pastrami); fresh ground beef

(chubs and patties); and individually
quick-frozen beef patties for foodservice and retail.
Making up 20 percent to 25 percent
of its overall production, Creekstone's
natural products are free of antibiotics, added hormones, growth-promoting drugs and artificial ingredients; are
made from cattle fed a 100 percent vegetarian diet; are source-verified to ranch
of birth; and humane animal handling
practices are used from birth through
harvesting.
"Our largest and primary brand is the
Creekstone brand," says Jim Rogers, vice
president, marketing. "But we also do
some co-packing and private label for
retailers and foodservice accounts."

Driving production
Creekstone Farms is the only mid-size or
larger U.S. packer that processes Black
Angus cattle exclusively, Buhlke says.

"We're not a fallout program or
a hide-sort program. That's a
huge advantage
we have" he adds.
"The carcass uniformity translates
into a consistent

finished product
in the case. With Creekstone's product our customers do not have varying degrees of marbling, tenderness,
flavor or texture from case to case...it's
all the same."
Creekstone's state-of-the-art 450,000
square-foot plant in Southern Kansas, which opened to plenty of fanfare
in 2001 as Future Beef, is technically
three plants in one: harvest and fabrication, ground beef and cooked and
value-added.
