In its own backyard, Weber
Maschinenbau shows off its
wares at IFFA 2010
With one of its newest slicers as its centerpiece at the 2010 IFFA show, Weber
demonstrated why it has the reputation for
engineering some of the industry's fastest
and most precise slicing systems for the
world's top companies. The company's expertise in automation was also on display,
with working demonstrations of Weberdesigned robotic pickers integrated into
the slicing equipment shown at the expo.

each, the 905 quietly hums with a blade
speed that achieves 1,600 cuts per minute. Technicians linked the 905 displayed
at IFFA with its robotic quadruple picker,
which is the highest-output of the Weber
Pick Robots (designed and built by the
company's team of automation engineers).
Designed with an open frame, the 905
ensures easy access to its interior for operators, maintenance workers and sanitation crews. Processors can expect a long
blade life from the 905 along with maximum yields with an array of products in a
variety of presentations.

Versatility in slicing was also showcased
by technicians proudly showing off the attributes of a newly designed bacon slicer.

Setting slicing standards
Flexibility and blinding speed are the calling cards of Weber's Slicer 905. Able to

To appeal to processors at IFFA whose
volumes perhaps didn't warrant a slicing
system as rigorous as the 905, the Weber
Slicer 804 was exhibited and got plenty
of attention. With a more compact design and smaller footprint, the 804 is big
on technology and delivering efficiency
and flexibility. Automatic central loading
makes hard-to-handle, bulky products an
effortless endeavor.

CCS 702 Bacon Slicer

At 1,500 slices per minute, the 804's
blade-slicing system utilizes idle-cut technology for product thicknesses ranging
from 0.5 mm to 50 mm in a variety of presentations. Weber technicians pointed
out that for most meat applications it is no
longer necessary to freeze products prior
to slicing. The 804 is able to slice up to
three products at one time (100 mm size)
and offers a wide slicing throat (380 mm
by 200 mm). As is the case with all of Weber's equipment, the machine is designed
with food safety and ease of cleaning as
top priorities all while providing slicing results that exceed expectations.

Bringing home the bacon
Fully aware of the steadfast demand and
continued growth in the use of bacon
across all market segments, Weber's engineers designed the CCS 702 Bacon Slicer
for the special requirements of the bacon
market. Requiring just 38 sq. ft. of floor
space, the 702 utilizes an involute blade
and the idle-cut technology to perform at
2,000 slices per minute with slice thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 50 mm.
Unlike conventional bacon slicers, the
distance between the blade and shear bar
is monitored and adjusted automatically.
Meanwhile, an optic weigher ensures unparalleled output and yields. The 702 operates without product grippers, which can
cause costly loading pauses. Continuous
loading from the rear of the machine leads
bacon joints to a slicing throat with dimensions of 300 mm to 380 mm by 100 mm.
