J O DY H O R N E R , president of Wichita, Kan.-based C A RG I L L M E AT
S O LU T I O NS, is leaving the company after 30 years. She will end her presidency
with Cargill at the end of the year and begin official duties as president of
M I D L A N D U N I V. in Fremont, Neb., on Feb. 1. Horner was named president of
Cargill Meat Solutions in 2008 after serving as vice president of Corporate Diversity
at Cargill and president of Cargill Salt.
RU T H K I M M E L S H U E will take over as president of Cargill Meat Solutions while
continuing as president of Cargill Turkey and Cooked Meats. She joined Cargill in
1986 and previously served as president of Cargill Salt and Cargill AgHorizons.

Washington, DC, announced that
Executive Director PH I L K I M BA L L
has stepped down after eight years
of service to the North American
Meat Processors Association
(NAMP) and NAMA. Kimball
became NAMP's executive director
in 2007. When NAMP merged with
the National Meat Association
(NMA) in 2012, Kimball became
executive director.

has been named vice presidentAnimal Well-Being Programs and
Technology at Springdale, Ark.based T YS O N FO O DS I N C .,
replacing D R . D E A N DA N I L S O N
who is retiring after 26 years
with the company. Daugherty will
be responsible for leading the
company's commitment to proper
farm animal treatment.

Henderson, Colo.-based B I R KO announced that D I A N E
MCCOY has joined the firm as director of human
resources. McCoy will oversee all areas of human resources
including staffing, compensation, benefits, training and
employee development, as well as policy development and
implementation.
DA N H E FFE R N A N has been appointed vice president of
human resources operations for Dakota Dunes, SC-based
T YS O N FR ES H M E ATS, the beef and pork subsidiary of
Tyson Foods Inc. Heffernan began his meat career in 1983
at the IBP beef plant in Emporia, Kan.

National Chicken Council (NCC). Serving as vice chairman
for 2014-2015 is TO D D S I M M O NS, chief executive
officer of S I M M O NS FO O DS, Siloam Springs, Ark. M I K E
P O P OW YC Z , vice chairman and chief financial officer at
C A S E FO O DS, Troutman, NC, takes over as secretarytreasurer and M I K E B ROW N , of Vienna, Va., was elected
to a fourth term as president of NCC.
H . J. BA K E R , Westport, Conn., announced it has
expanded its Animal Health and Nutrition division with
the addition of six employees.  The new hires include
S T E PH E N B L E ZI N G E R , Ph.D., PAS, manager of business
development; N A N C Y S H E A R E R , marketing manager;
FR A N K M I L L E R , logistics manager; J O H N H I C K E Y,
director of business operations; R E B ECC A T E R RY, account
manager; and JACO B S PA R K M A N , account manager.
An AV U R E 100L HPP system was installed and
commissioned in late November in the company's
new testing and HPP tolling facility in Helmond, The
Netherlands. The site will also serve as a new product
development center.
On Sept. 20, B E T TC H E R I N D US T R I ES marked its
70th anniversary with a celebration at the company's
headquarters in Birmingham, Ohio. More than 1,000 people
attended the event which included live music, food and
plant tours led by Bettcher employees through the original
1970s "Bettcher barn" headquarters building.  
GA I N CO I N C ., Gainesville, Ga., announced an agreement
with M AY E K AWA MYCOM in which Gainco has been
named the exclusive authorized distributor and reseller of
the company's line of deboning equipment to the poultry
processing industry in the US. The agreement became
official on Sept. 17.
