Recognized as the largest food and beverage trade show in Asia, organizers are expecting over 2,900 exhibitors, more than 66,000 visitors from 65 countries and more than 126,000 sq. m. (1.35 million sq. ft.) of exhibit space in 11 halls. SIAL China attracts professionals from retail, hotel/restaurant/catering (HoReCa), foodservices, the import/export trade and manufacturing segments each year. More than 20 product sectors are represented on the trade show floor including fresh meat and offals, fresh poultry and game, cured and salted meat, dairy products and eggs, delicatessen and home meal replacement, frozen products, as well as equipment, technologies and contract processing. Each year a country is chosen as the guest country of honor - USA was chosen at the 2015 show. At the 2016 event, Poland will be the guest country of honor. Dubai will feature a pavilion at the show for the first time. Additionally, the pavilions for Korea and the USA will both occupy more than 1,000 sq. m. Other top countries exhibiting in May will be Turkey, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Uruguay, Germany, Malaysia, Australia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Morocco, Argentina, Finland, Canada, Portugal and Costa Rica. Last year's show in Shanghai attracted 61,296 visitors (up 11.5 percent from 2014). There were 2,734 exhibitors (up 14 percent from 2014) from 61 countries featured in more than 115,000 sq. m. (1.24 million sq. ft.) of exhibit space. In 2015, the top 10 pavilions were Korea, USA, Poland, Turkey, France, Spain, India, Netherlands, Australia and Germany. Of the more than 61,000 attendees of the 2015 show, 12 percent were from countries around the globe other than China. The majority (56 percent) were in the retail and trade business, 16 percent were food manufacturers and processors, 19 percent were in catering and foodservice and 9 percent were in other services.
