BUSINESS NOTES

TYSON FOODS APPOINTS HAYES TO PRESIDENT
The board of directors of Tyson Foods Inc. has promoted
Tom Hayes to president. In this role he will lead the
company's transition toward a focus on its hybrid model
of branded prepared foods and fresh meats. Hayes will
work directly with Donnie Smith, who will continue as the
company's CEO. Smith had been president since 2009.
Hayes most recently
was chief commercial
officer at Tyson and
previously was president
of foodservice. Previously,
he was chief supply
chain officer for The
Hillshire Brands Co.,
responsible for operations
such as procurement,
manufacturing, food safety
and quality, engineering and
logistics. Prior to this role,
Tom Hayes
he was president of Sara
Lee Foodservice.
Before joining Sara Lee in 2006, Hayes was group vice
president of US Foodservice Inc., where he oversaw the
turnaround needs of broadline distribution facilities in the
Northeast. A 29-year veteran of the consumer products
industry, he previously held general management, sales
and marketing roles at ConAgra Foods, The Fort James
Corp., Stella Foods and Kraft Foods.
Hayes has served on the board of directors of the
International Foodservice Manufacturers Association and
the executive committee of the board of directors of the
North American Meat Institute.
He received a bachelor's in psychology from the Univ.
of New Hampshire and a master's from Northwestern
Univ.'s Kellogg School of Management.
"Tom Hayes is an exceptional leader who has played a
key role in creating a united company and in our continued
development of our branded products," Smith said.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange
Commission, Hayes will receive a base salary of $950,000. 

MCDONALD'S HQ ON THE MOVE
McDonald's Corp., Oak Brook, Illinois, is a brand on the
move in more ways than one, said Steve Easterbrook,
president and CEO. The company is moving its
headquarters to the West Loop neighborhood of downtown
Chicago by the spring of 2018.
"Moving our headquarters to Chicago is another
significant step in our journey to build a better
McDonald's," Easterbrook said in a statement. "This
world-class environment will continue to drive business

momentum by getting us even closer to customers,
encouraging innovation and ensuring great talent is
excited about where they work."
The company's new address is 1045 W. Randolph St.
The company plans to renovate the space into a "modern
setting that fosters collaboration and connectivity." The
new headquarters also will be home to Hamburger Univ.,
one of seven state-of-the-art learning centers for the
company's future leaders and employees.
"McDonald's looks forward to returning to the Chicago
community where we started and to building together
the next chapter of success in the history of this great
company," said Rick Hernandez, chairman of McDonald's.
"Today's announcement is about more than just a new
location for us. It is an important investment in our
people as we look to create a state-of-the-art company
headquarters they can use to move our business forward
for many years to come."
McDonald's corporate offices were based in Chicago
from 1955 to 1971. The fast-food giant currently occupies
more than 860,000 sq. ft. in the suburb of Oak Brook.

HOUSE OF RAEFORD DEBUTS NEW FACILITY
House of Raeford Farms is celebrating the completion of a
new hatchery, opened June 22 in Monetta, South Carolina.
The new 63,000-sq.-ft. facility is fully automated to
ensure high levels of biosecurity, quality control and
operational analytics, the company said. The hatchery will
employ 20 people and is expected to produce one million
birds per week.
House of Raeford, based in Rose Hill, North Carolina,
operates poultry plants in Georgia, Louisiana and South
Carolina as well as North Carolina. The company employs
5,000 workers.

OSI ACQUIRES FORMER TYSON FOODS FACILITY
OSI Group LLC recently purchased a food processing
facility and storage warehouse formerly owned by
Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson Foods.
The plant, located in Chicago, covers 200,000 sq. ft. and
is close to an existing OSI facility. The Aurora, Illinoisbased company said the setup will provide the necessary
infrastructure to support continued business growth.
"This facility enhances our capabilities to meet the
rapidly evolving needs of our customers," said Kevin Scott,
senior executive vice president, OSI North America. "We
are excited to have this facility as part of the broader OSI
manufacturing network."
OSI is a supplier of value-added protein and other
food products to the foodservice and retail industries. The
company operates more than 60 facilities in 16 countries.
