awarded a $25,875 student recruiting
grant to the U NIV. O F GE OR GI A
(UGA). The grant was made possible
in part from an endowing Foundation
gift from the Leland Bagwell Education
& Innovation Fund, named in honor of
the founder of American Proteins. The
grant check was presented by J OH N
STARK E Y, president of USPOULTRY,
to DR. T O DD AP P L E GAT E ,
department head and professor at UGA.
Joining in the presentation were several

position of Vice

was awarded the 62nd Kyoto Inventors

Award for his invention: the ovalshaped 18-head multihead weigher.
Kageyama devised a method to rotate
the approach route of product to
hoppers by using vibration. As a result,
product feeding to areas that were
difficult to feed now became easier.
Los Angeles-based B EYOND MEAT ,
maker of the plant-based Beyond
Burger, announced the appointment
of K ATH Y N. WALLER and NED
S EGAL as its newest board members
and additions to the board's audit
committee. Waller currently serves as
chief financial officer and executive
vice president of TH E C OC A-C OLA
C OMPANY and Segal serves as

has been named to the board of

retirement earlier this year.
ALAN MAGEE is joining Atlantabased C H UR C H ' S C H IC K EN as its
new vice president of digital marketing
and technology. In this role, Magee will
lead all marketing efforts.
