texture, Tyson said. The nuggets provide nine
grams of protein and five grams of fiber per
serving and contain 33 percent less saturated
fat than US Dept. of Agriculture all-white meat
chicken nuggets, according to the company.
The new Raised & Rooted plant-based nuggets
are slated to roll out in late summer.
The brand also will launch blended burgers
in the fall. Featuring a combination of 90
percent lean Angus beef and pea protein
isolate, the patties provide 19 grams of protein
and contain 40 percent fewer calories and 60
percent less saturated fat than an 80 percent
lean all-beef burger, Tyson said.
"The creation of the Raised & Rooted brand
is an excellent example of Tyson's ability to
think big and move fast, capitalizing on our
existing infrastructure," said Justin Whitmore,
executive vice president of alternative proteins
and chief sustainability officer for Tyson.
"We began development of our alternative
protein products last year and have succeeded
in creating a new brand and bringing those
products to market in well under a year,"
he said when the announcement of the new
products was made. "Customers tell us they
love the taste and nutritional attributes and are
excited to partner with us."
Additionally, Tyson's existing Aidells brand
is branching into the blended space with new

Aidells Whole Blends sausage and meatballs,
made with antibiotic-free chicken and a blend
of plant-based ingredients.
Aidells Whole Blends Sausage Links are
available in two varieties, both featuring 10
grams of protein per serving. The jalapeño,
bacon and cheese flavor features smoked
chicken sausage with bacon, cheese, quinoa,
jalapeño, black beans, bell pepper, corn,
barley and onion. The Italian Style Margherita
Sausage Links contain smoked chicken,
cheese, tomato, quinoa, barley, bell pepper
and basil.
Aidells Whole Blends Seasoned Meatballs
are also available in two flavors. The Falafel
Seasoned Meatballs contain 11 grams of
protein and are made with chicken, quinoa,
spinach, feta cheese and roasted green
garbanzo beans. The Samosa Seasoned
Meatballs, which offer 10 grams of protein,
include chicken, quinoa, vegetables, potatoes
and green lentils.
Tyson expects to introduce additional
alternative protein products under the Raised
& Rooted brand as well as the company's
portfolio of established brands in the future,
the company said. This will include in retail
sales channels as well as foodservice.
