meets jerky

Nuggets and
nuptuals

Tyson Foods' chicken nuggets were a
late addition to Blair Hardy's wedding
invitation list, thanks to a bridesmaid's
efforts to reach out to the company in
hopes of making the bride's favorite
food part of the bride and groom's
(coincidentally named Adam Tyson)
big day.
Jenna Spetz, Hardy's cousin and
bridesmaid,, inquired with Tyson's
customer service officials and the
company's PR team delivered with a
custom-made Nugget Bouquet, dinonuggets for the wedding guests, free
nuggets for a year for the new husband
and wife as well as wishes from
President and CEO Noel White. "Always
begin and end each day with kisses and
nugs," White wrote. "Wishing you many
years of marital bliss, from one Tyson
family to another."

Beer has longtime been used as an
ingredient to add flavor to meat
dishes including stews, chili and even
sausage. Now, craft beer lovers can
combine their love for tasty beer and
their love for jerky.
Kansas City, Missouri-based Craft
Beer Jerky LLC takes "great tasting
craft beer and uses it as an ingredient
to make great tasting beef jerky." The
jerky is marinated in beer, hops and
other seasonings.
The company offers a number of
beer jerky flavors made from craft
beers from breweries in Kansas City,
Missouri, St. Louis, Omaha and Lincoln,
Nebraska.

SHARK SHY

This past month, Jonathan and
Deborah Torres swam into a school
of sharks and escaped unscathed.
The founders of Atlas Monroe, a
plant-based vegan food company
based in San Francisco, appeared
on ABC's "Shark Tank" hoping to
hook the celebrity investors as
partners in their company. After
giving the sharks a taste of the
company's wheat-based version
of fried chicken, the couple got a
$1 million joint offer from Mark
Cuban and Rohan Oza for 100
percent of the company, plus 10
percent of each sale. Team Torres
stuck to their spearguns and
their $5 million valuation of the
company, much to the chagrin of
the investors, who only thought
they smelled blood in the water.
