US operations in Lenexa, Kan., said many of today's
customers are looking for higher capacities with less
cost of ownership, which is why it has entered the
40-inch forming and coating arena.
" Processors are looking for high volume with the
ability to require less labor, " he said. " The versatility
of equipment is also very intriguing to many producers
who are wanting to differentiate their products. "
Other recent trends have included equipment
settings that are changeable, including gauges or
numbers for repeatability of line setup. As for line
control, now, operators can set up recipes by entering
the SKU and the speed set up accordingly.
Another advantage of today's equipment is that
there is more thought on the carbon footprint and how
many utilities are required to run them.
Still, even with the advancements making things
easier, processors are looking to reduce process line
operating cost - especially for raw materials. For
example, the price for cooking oil has significantly
gone up, as has sanitation cost, chemicals, water usage
and more.
" There's also a bigger need to turn the line around
from the end of production to cleaning and back up
and running faster, " Stacy said. " About five to 10 years
ago, the window to clean a line was six to eight hours.
Now it is four hours and there is a push to reduce
that number. "
EQUIPMENT ESSENTIALS

" For that reason, many customers prefer to set
their line up with a SuperFlex in the pre-dust position,

be run with minimal downtime on the line for change
overs. The final breader can also be removed and the
line can quickly be ready to run tempura nuggets using
the same equipment. "

components by eliminating all plastics within
the machine.
" In addition to this, we added multiple new
upgrades/features, controls advancements, and
production capabilities, " Nothum said. " The HDX line
provides what our customers are gravitating toward,
which is greater control of the process while achieving
better reliability and uptime. "
