With this ongoing pursuit of protein as a
desirable on-the-go snack, meat snacks are
gaining momentum and popularity. The North
American meat snacks market is projected
to grow 7.2% through 2027, according to an
October 2019 food market trends report titled,
" North America Meat Snacks Market to 2027 "
by The Insight Partners. This market will include
growth for jerky, meat sticks, strips, bites and
bars and sausages. This growing demand for
more meat snacks is coming from an increased
interest in protein-rich snacks to support
healthy lifestyles.
Entering the arena
Few snack categories have experienced as
much change over the past 10 years or so
as the meat snack category has. At one time,
meat snacks were relegated to being sold on
the counters of gas station convenience stores.
They were highly processed, dried out pieces of
meat that were mostly consumed by sportsmen
looking for something quick, easy and satiating.
Now, protein-seeking consumers of all ages
are shopping for meat snacks everywhere they
shop for snacks. They're still considered a go-to,
shelf-stable choice for an on-the-go protein but
the brands, varieties and flavor profiles available
make it clear that the market isn't going away
anytime soon.
