Billy and PG Georgiou's West Kentucky family
restaurant and sold out of their health club,
has expanded into a growing online fresh
delivery meal order business. Their menu of
more than 60 meals are made fresh daily in
the company's 20,000-square-foot facility,
flash frozen and delivered on dry ice to
customers around the country.
After years of continued 40+% annual growth,
Billy and PG Georgiou have decided to add a
little automation to their operation, which cooks,
packages and ships 150,000 meals per month.
The company operates two MULTIVAC T300
traysealing machines to package its freshly
made meals. The T300 is the most compact,
fully automatic traysealer from MULTIVAC
that's ideal for smaller batches and rapid
product changeover.
In order to streamline their operations a little
more, the company will replace its existing
system of manually placing a pre-printed
paper sleeve around each packaged product,
to adding a MULTIVAC L310 full-wrap labeler
with integrated printer that will attractively
label and print product/nutritional information
directly onto the finished package.
" It will really help to streamline our process
when we don't have to put the sleeves on
manually, " said Billy Georgiou. " Right now, we
have to keep a lot of different inventory with
all the pre-printed sleeves for all of our 60
products. When we switch to the labeler and
printer, we will be able to eliminate all of the
inventory and the machine will store all our
product information for us. It will be a big help. "
The company expects to have their new
streamlined operation up and running by
the New Year, which thanks to New Year's
resolutions, is a peak time for the healthy
meals business.
