Hollow-core extrusion screw assembly
In recent years, pet food processors have been incorporating higher levels
of fresh meat into dry kibble formulations, which can pose problems
for conventional extrusion technologies. Wenger Manufacturing, Inc. addresses
these issues with this twin screw extrusion assembly, including
hollow-core elongated barrels equipped with steam injection mechanisms.

Dog popsicle
Just in time for summer, this patent depicts a design for a dog popsicle.

Alternative protein compositions
Wild Earth, Inc. describes a pet food formulation containing edible, single-cell
microorganisms from fungi, bacteria, algae or synthetic animal
cells. The invention contains at least one fungus-containing product and
a group of other ingredients to provide palatability, preservation and nutritional
value for a pet food or treat without traditional animal-based proteins.

Pet food for skin allergies
According to Hill's Pet Nutrition, skin and coat issues make up 15% to 25%

ratios of Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, alpha lipoic acid, quercetin sources
from herbs, fruits and vegetables, an egg product, and vitamins E and C.

Big Heart Pet, Inc., owned by The J.M. Smucker Company, describes a

flowable fat, as well as a dry palatant. The result is an energy-dense, highcrunch
dry pet food product that offers improved palatability, nutrition and
digestibility.
