A TREAT TO THE ECONOMY
Pet food manufacturing contributes $126 billion to U.S. economy
The Institute for Feed Education and Research
(IFEEDER) commissioned a year-long research
project to quantify the U.S. animal feed and pet
food manufacturing industry's contribution to
the national economy. This first-ever economic
analysis focused on 2016. The study found that a
total of 517 U.S. pet food manufacturing facilities
contributed the following to the national economy:

Five states that consistently rank at
the top of all reported economic
measures for the pet food manufacturing
industry include: Missouri, Pennsylvania,
Kansas, Iowa and California. The pet food
manufacturers in these top states contribute the
following total to the economy:

398,000 + jobs
$126 billion total sales
165,000 + jobs
$9 billion in local, state and national taxes $53 billion in total sales
in taxes at the local, state and
$4 billion
national level
