New facility announcements and
expansions to meet growing demand.

Demand for dog and cat food in the United States and
abroad is at an all-time high as pet ownership continues
to climb and manufacturers strive to meet pet owners'
evolving needs. Manufacturers from all corners of the
pet nutrition industry are investing in expanded production
infrastructure to meet this demand.
Pet Food Processing has covered well over 60 new facility
announcements and expansions from pet food and
treat manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and equipment
providers so far in 2022. Read on for a snapshot of some
of the most notable expansions by pet food and treat
producers so far this year.
Tuffy's Treat Company
Location: Delano, Minn.
Investment: $20M
Announced: 2020
Project completion: April 2022
Built-in flexibility paid off for Tuffy's when the company
looked to add canning capabilities to its existing
treat facility in Delano, Minn., which originally opened
in 2020. The addition of canning capabilities called for
a 45,000-square-foot expansion of the existing plant.
According to the company, its new cannery has the
capacity to produce up to 300 13-oz, 5.5-oz and 3-oz
steel and aluminum cans per minute, with production
estimated to top 65 million cans annually. Canning

Location: Allentown, Pa.
Investment: $20M
Announced: January 2022
Project completion: Summer 2022
This young company founded in 2018 has invested
$20 million to establish its first in-house manufacturing
facility in Pennsylvania, where it will produce its

operations include a three-retort sterilization system,
as well as state-of-the-art X-ray and can inspection
technologies.
K9 Candy Kitchen
Location: Los Angeles
Project completion: May 2022
Following its official launch in January 2022, K9 Candy
Kitchen answered strong demand with the establishment
of its private label division - Himalayan-Style
Chew - and the opening of a new production facility in
California. The 6,500-square-foot facility will be home
to an internal research and development team offering
in-house formulation and product capabilities. The new
plant is expected to increase K9 Candy Kitchen's production
capacity to 2 million lbs of finished pet treat
products annually.
