Super
show
It's been three years since SuperZoo was truly a super show.
In August 2020, just months into the initial wave of COVID,
SuperZoo was canceled. Last year, the show returned but,
with the pandemic still in full force, many were not ready to
return to the trade show floor and face-to-face interactions,
leaving the 2021 edition with fewer attendees and exhibitors.
But this summer, the show returned and the industry couldn't
have been more excited.
Early estimates show more than 1,000 exhibitors and
approximately 16,000 pet professionals poured into the
Mandalay Bay Convention Center from Aug. 23 through 25
to reconnect with industry colleagues, make new connections,
and find out about the latest and greatest or soon-to-be
pet products hitting the market. There were plant-based pet
food formulations, new supplements targeted for specific pet
health needs, and treats designed to deliver vitamins, minerals
and essential fatty acids to support overall health and
wellness in dogs and cats.
The 331,500-square-foot show floor featured five specialty
areas - Natural and Health, Specialty and Lifestyle,
Farm and Feed, Aquatics, Reptiles and Small Animals, and
Groomer's Marketplace - as well as an Emerging Brands section
where hand-picked startups showcased their early-stage
innovations.
More than 900 new product debuts filled the New Product
Showcase. A number of companies were recognized for their
innovations with awards across 10 product categories.
Not to mention more than 70 educational sessions led by a
wide range of industry experts, nine grooming contests, and
the exclusive Mandalay Bay Beach networking party.
SuperZoo 2022 was my inaugural pet food trade show and
it did not disappoint. The energy throughout the show floor
was palpable. Pet Food Processing was invited to visit company
booths, from the time the trade
show doors opened to the close each
day. Representatives eagerly showed
off their products, shared plans for
the future and gave predictions about
where the industry is headed. While
we tried to see everything and learn
all we could, we certainly missed a few
things. If you were there and offered something you think we

SuperZoo 2022 was a super show for all who participated.
