MEMBER profile

From culinary cast member to teaching staff
Before teaching at Drexel University,
Rosemary Trout worked for Walt Disney World
in the Orlando, Fla., area and Euro Disney
(Disneyland Paris) in France.
During the '90s, she was an assistant
restaurant manager for the Resorts Division
of Walt Disney World at The Grand Floridian
Beach Resort, the Crystal Palace and Pecos
Bill Café Complex in the Magic Kingdom. She
later went on to work as an assistant restaurant
manager for the Sequoia Lodge at Euro Disney
near Paris.
"I enjoyed working for Disney, and I have
great things to say about them, but it's also
a very busy job because of the volume and
number of guests they serve," Dr. Trout
explained. "The company really values its
employees, or their 'cast members' as the
company refers to them, but the hours can be
long."
Dr. Trout pursued her early career dreams
there and said she has many happy memories.
"One day at the Crystal Palace, for example, I
was busy preparing salads for several days in
a row, when one evening the head chef made
sure I went outside to watch the fireworks," she
recalled.
Nowadays, Dr. Trout tries to treat her pupils
in a similar way. "I want them to have the best
experience that our university has to offer," she
emphasized. "They're the ones following their
dreams and career pathways."
