including meal kits, ready-to-eat value addons and flash-frozen seafood with a longer
shelf life.
"The company that produces our lobster
mac and cheese and our crab cakes is
making heat-and-eat fully cooked singleserve meals for us to sell," said Mark Murrell,
founder and CEO. "We bring the restaurant
experience directly to the home."
There are ready-to-heat lobster rolls with
fresh Maine lobster, New England-style
split top rolls and a secret spice blend. The
baked stuffed clams come with butter, garlic,
pecorino cheese, fresh parsley, breadcrumbs
and lemon. Other specialties include ovenroasted turkey breast with apple cranberry
stuffing, roasted root vegetables and gravy;
and boneless chicken breast sautéed in a
heavy cream Parmesan alfredo sauce served
over pappardelle pasta.
"The shepherd's pie serves two," Mr.
Murrell said. "It comes in the traditional style
of layers of ground beef, carrots, onions, corn
and peas in a savory tomato sauce topped
with garlic cheddar mashed potatoes."
Before the country shutdown, Aqua Star,
Seattle, introduced a line of microwaveable
seafood meals for retail, which quickly
became available through Amazon Fresh.
They feature a skin-packed vacuum film
technology that locks in the steam so each
meal is cooked from frozen in six minutes.

Varieties include barbecue sriracha wild
salmon with broccoli, brown rice, red quinoa
and bacon, and Cajun-style tilapia with
creamy cheddar cheese pasta shells.
"They are a one-step meal solution for
those who want a premium quality seafood
meal in less time than it takes to brew a pot of
coffee," says Dirk Leuenberger, president and
CEO. "They offer no-stress preparation, highquality ingredients and take the guesswork
out of figuring out what to eat, and the
proverbial question, 'how to cook seafood?'"  
The same steam technology is used for
the company's new frozen bowl meals. There
are six varieties, including shrimp and grits,
which is made with shrimp, gouda cheese
grits, bacon, poblano peppers and Cajunstyle sauce. The sesame ginger wild Alaskan
pollock includes brown rice, broccoli florets,
red bell peppers and onions.
"We've created products that people can
stock up on and have on-hand when working
from home with a house full of family," Mr.
Leuenberger said. "At the same time, we
wanted something that gave people a bit of
joy and comfort, as well as a healthy meal."

Assembling bowl meals
Bowl meals are becoming popular in the
frozen retail space. They are convenient and
allow for many varied ingredients to come
together all in one place. There are bowls for
